Global arthropod beta-diversity is spatially and temporally structured by latitude

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Global biodiversity gradients are generally expected to reflect greater species replacement closer to the equator. However, empirical validation of global biodiversity gradients largely relies on vertebrates, plants, and other less diverse taxa.

A technique for repeated blood and cerebrospinal fluid sampling from individual rats over time without the need for repeated anesthesia

open access: yesScientific Reports
Ethical animal use follows the 3R’s: Replacement, Reduction and Refinement. Here, we present the use of simultaneous jugular vein and cisterna magna catheterization via a port system in rats for repeated fluid sampling for 14 consecutive days without ...

Repeated Sampling with Partial Replacement of Units

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1977
This paper is concerned with the minimum variance estimation of a time-dependent population mean, assuming that one is restricted to the case of linear unbiased estimators. A number of results are given for a new rotation sampling model (RSM), in which unequal sample sizes are used on each occasion.

Optimum allocation in stratified sampling with replacement

open access: yesMetrika, 1965
In a stratified sample, when sampling is done with replacement in each stratum a better estimate of the population mean can be achieved by considering the distinct units only. An explicit expression for the variance for the mean, of a stratified sample based on the distinct units only, is obtained.

ON THE RESAMPLING METHOD IN SAMPLE MEDIAN ESTIMATION

open access: yesActa Universitatis Lodziensis. Folia Oeconomica, 2014
Bootstrap is one of the resampling statistical methods. This method was proposed by B. Efron. The main idea of bootstrap is to treat the original sample of values as a stand-in for the population and to resample with replacement from it repeatedly ...
