Cretaceous–Tertiary convergence and continental collision, Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone, western Iran

Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, 2003
Abstract The Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone contains the metamorphic core of the Zagros continental collision zone in western Iran. The zone has been subdivided into the following from southwest to northeast: an outer belt of imbricate thrust slices (radiolarite, Bisotun, ophiolite and marginal sub-zones, which consist of Mesozoic deep-marine sediments ...

The continuation of the Kazerun fault system across the Sanandaj–Sirjan zone (Iran)

Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, 2009
Abstract The Kazerun (or Kazerun-Qatar) fault system is a north-trending dextral strike-slip fault zone in the Zagros mountain belt of Iran. It probably originated as a structure in the Panafrican basement. This fault system played an important role in the sedimentation and deformation of the Phanerozoic cover sequence and is still seismically active.

Petrogenesis of granitic unit of Naqadeh complex, Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone, NW Iran

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2009
The granitic unit is a component of the Naqadeh plutonic complex, NW of Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone (NW Iran). This unit is composed of high-K calc-alkaline, slightly peraluminous (ASI = 1.12–1.17) evolved monzogranites. These monzogranites have 41.85 ± 0.81 Ma (zircon U–Pb sensitive, high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) age) with two inherited zircon ages

Petrogenesis and Sr-Nd isotope data of the Chadegan metabasites, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran

open access: yesNeues Jahrbuch für Geologie und Paläontologie - Abhandlungen, 2016
The metabasites of Chadegan belong to the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone and include eclogite, garnet amphibolite and amphibolite that have been affected by several tectono-metamorphic events. These rocks were metamorphosed during subduction of Neo-Tethys ocean crust under Eurasia.

Diagenesis and Tectonic Setting of the Varcheh Intrusive Masses in Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Varcheh intrusive masses of the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone (SSZ) are embedded in middle and upper cretaceous sedimentary rocks. The lithological composition of this complex is mostly olivine gabbro, monzogabbro, diorite, and monzodiorite with granular and ophitic textures.

Geochemistry and zircon U–Pb geochronology of Aligoodarz granitoid complex, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran

open access: yesJournal of Asian Earth Sciences, 2012
The Aligoodarz granitoid complex (AGC) is located in the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (SSZ), western Iran and consists of quartz-diorites, granodiorites and subordinate granites. Whole rock major and trace element data mostly define linear trends on Harker diagrams suggesting a cogenetic origin of the different rock types.

Documentation of the Sirjan Orocline in the southeast Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran

Journal of Mountain Science, 2020
At the southeastern part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone of Iran, a group of structural elements outline a large-scale arc curvature around a vertical axis. This curvature comprises several elongated structural elements and their dividing faults, axialfold traces, layering, and foliation.

Bolorian and Kubergandian stages of the Permian in the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone of Iran

Stratigraphy and Geological Correlation, 2008
Sections and fusulinids of the Bolorian (presumably) and Kubergandian (lower part) stages in the Sanandaj-Sirjan tectonic zone are described. Two fusulinid assemblages are distinguished in a most complete section near Sirjan. The lower one is represented by Skinnerella, Paraleeina, and relatively primitive Misellina forms, whereas Armenina ...

Geochemistry of metabasites in the north of the Shahrekord, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran

Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie - Abhandlungen, 2006
Metabasites are exposed in the north of Shahrekord that is a part of the structural zone of Sanandaj-Sirjan in south- western Iran. The metabasites are composed mainly of eclogites, amphibolites and garnet amphibolites. We have conducted a geochemical study of metabasites in order to determine their protolith nature and geodynamic setting.

Deformation Mechanisms of Darreh Sary Metapelites, Sanandaj‒Sirjan Zone, Iran

Geotectonics, 2018
The Darreh Sary metapelitic rocks are located in the northeast of Zagros orogenic belt and Sanandaj-Sirjan structural zone. The lithological composition of these rocks includes slate, phyllite, muscovitebiotite schist, garnet schist, staurolite-garnet schist and staurolite schist.
