A study of granite typology in Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, Zagros Orogen, Iran
Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 2006Department of Geology, Bu Ali Sina University, Hamadan andYoung Researchers Club of Kurdistan, IranEach granitoid type is generated and emplaced in every specifictectonic setting and each stage of the Wilson cycle is characterizedby typical associations of granitoids.

Metamorphism and deformation of golpayegan metapelitic rocks, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran
Petrology, 2012The metapelitic schists of the Golpayegan region can be divided into four groups based on their mineral assemblages: (1) garnet-chloritoid schists, (2) garnet schists, (3) garnet-staurolite schists, and (4) staurolite-kyanite schists. Paleozoic pelagic shales experienced progressive metamorphism and polymetamorphism from greenschist to amphibolite ...

Petrology of eclogites from north of Shahrekord, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran
Mineralogy and Petrology, 2007Metabasic rocks were recently found within a ductile shear zone in the north of Shahrekord, being a part of the structural zone of Sanandaj-Sirjan, SW Iran. The rocks give evidence of a so far unrecognized eclogite facies metamorphic event and testify to high pressure metamorphism in the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, near the Main Zagros Reverse Fault, which ...

Episodic subduction initiation triggered Jurassic magmatism in the Sanandaj–Sirjan zone, Iran
Lithos, 2021Abstract The Zagros suture zone in Iran is part of the Tethyan orogenic belt that records convergence between the Eurasian and Arabian plates during the Mesozoic-Cenozoic. Prior to collision, which may have initiated in the Late Eocene-Early Oligocene, much of the convergence was accommodated by the Late Triassic-Early Jurassic subduction of the ...

Why are there no Cu-porphyry deposits in Jurassic Sanandaj-Sirjan zone intrusions of Iran?
International Geology Review, 2020Granitoid intrusions of Zagros orogenic and metallogenic belt were mainly emplaced during the Jurassic-Cretaceous and Upper Eocene – Pliocene along the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (SaSZ) and Urumieh-Dokht...

Structure of the Soresat Metamorphic Complex, North Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone, northwest Iran
Australian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2009The metasedimentary and granitoid rocks of the Soresat Metamorphic Complex occur along the northern margin of the Sanandaj–Sirjan Zone in northwest Iran. Four different deformational events (D1–D4) are recorded in the Soresat Metamorphic Complex.

Petrology and geochemistry of the granitoid complex of Boroujerd, Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Western Iran
Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, 2007Abstract The Middle Jurassic Boroujerd Granitoid Complex of the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (with a U–Pb zircon age of 169–172 Ma) was emplaced in an active continental margin setting. This complex consists of three main units: an elongate NW–SE extending granodioritic unit (SiO2 = 58–71 wt%), which is widespread throughout the area, a quartz-dioritic unit (

Sedimentology and origin of Meyghan lake/playa deposits in Sanandaj–Sirjan zone, Iran
Carbonates and Evaporites, 2012The inland lake/playa of Meyghan is a closed basin in the Sanandaj–Sirjan tectonic zone of Iran, containing largest mineable sodium sulfate deposit of the Middle East. The Late Pleistocene–Holocene sediments of this lake/playa were studied for sedimentological and mineralogical characteristics, brine evolution path and the record of climatic variations

Gaw-Khuni Basin: An active stepover structure in the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, Iran
Geological Society of America Bulletin, 2011The Gaw-Khuni Basin is located in the central part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, on the northeastern margin of the Zagros orogen. This basin is one of the continuous zones of Sanandaj-Sirjan zone basins that is filled by Pliocene–Holocene sediments. The Gaw-Khuni Basin is surrounded by an en echelon to parallel arrangement of active faults in dextral ...

The study area is northwest part of Sanandaj–Sirjan or Esfandegha–Marivan zone in the northwest of Iran. The oldest rocks which are limestone, sandstone, tuff, and lava belong to the Jurassic which have deformed during the Late Cimmerian orogeny. This complex is unconformably overlain by Cretaceous volcano sedimentary.
