ABSTRACT Medieval and early modern drowned villages in the intertidal zone of the Scheldt estuary (the Netherlands) constitute intriguing yet largely understudied components of north‐western Europe's underwater cultural heritage. Despite their high archaeological potential as time capsules of past settlement landscapes, research has remained limited ...

Mechanism of Consolidation Displacement on Internal Behavior of Clay Ground Improved by Sand Drain
In this study, the large scaled model test improved by sand drain was carried out to clarify the internal behavior of the three-dimensional consolidation under different secondary consolidation periods. From the results of model test, the void ratio in the undrained side was lager than in the drained side.

Investigation of soil-steel interface behavior of Iraqi soil by direct shear apparatus
Soil - structure interaction is an important theme observed in many civil engineering structures like fondations. The interface shear strength plays a significant role in the analysis and design of many structures constructed above or under the ground ...

The addition of Na2CO3 or K2CO3 to sewage sludge prior to combustion leads to the production of ashes containing phosphate in the form of buchwaldite‐like phases (Ca(Na/K)PO4). Compared to conventional sewage sludge mono‐ashes, such Na‐ or K‐ashes show greatly increased P‐solubilities and proved to be potent P‐fertiliser materials in greenhouse ...

Consolidation Solution for Sand-drained Ground with Impeded Boundaries Under Vacuum Preloading
Since the cushion generally exists on the top and a substratum below the bottom of sand-drained ground, impeded boundaries were used to describe its effect on consolidation process of sand-drained ground.Assuming that ground deformation satisfies the ...
