Modal density of sandwich panels based on an improved ordinary sandwich panel theory
Composite Structures, 2015Abstract Modal density of sandwich panels with composite face sheets and orthotropic core is presented based on an improved ordinary sandwich panel theory. The governing equations are derived by applying the Hamilton’s principle, where in-plane rigidity of the core is considered and the material and reference axes are not limited to be identical to ...

Nonlinear Dynamic Buckling of Sandwich Panels
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1976Nonlinear dynamic buckling of simply supported rectangular sandwich panels with isotropic cores and with initial curvature under transverse loads is analyzed. The large deflection sandwich panel equations proposed by Reissner are solved using a trigonometric series spacewise and by Houbolt scheme for timewise integration.

Response of stiffened sandwich panels
22nd Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 1981An increasingly important part of the design of skin-stringer systems, such as those found in flight vehicles, is the ability to reduce surface vibration levels when they are subjected to the dynamic loads of jet, or propeller noise. One common method of reducing the response of these structures is by layered construction using viscoelastic materials ...

Experimental and analytical investigation of sandwich panels
1999In order to optimize outer walls thickness and to reduce the required construction phases (costs) carrying walls built as sandwich panels (insulated wall panels) seem to be a reasonable alternative. Finished wall consists of inside insulation and two concrete wythes connected by shear connectors. It acts as composite wall up to a certain point. Load

This chapter will briefly go over some of the types of damage that honeycomb sandwich panels suffer and the principles of repair. Military Handbook 337 (1982) Adhesive Bonded Aerospace Structural Repair is an excellent source for detailed repair procedures. It replaces and updates the old Military Handbook 23 (1968) repair section.

Reuse of steel sandwich panels
2021Sandwich panels are composite elements consisting of two metal sheets and a core made of PUR foam or mineral wool. They are used as metal building envelopes on industrial buildings. The demand on sandwich panels increased highly within the last years and they became the most used metal building envelope system in Europe (Kuhnhenne & Ungermann 2017 ...

X-joints in Composite Sandwich Panels
1998The small structural weight of fast large ships such as fast mono hulls or catamaran type of ships is of extreme importance to their success. One possible light weight structural solution is the sandwich panel with fibre reinforced laminates and a balsa, honeycomb or foam core.

Sandwich Panels with Stepped Facings
50th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2009Sandwich panels have been developed to either design a lighter structure capable of carrying prescribed loads or to increase the load-carrying capacity subject to limitations on the weight. The major loadcarrying elements of a sandwich structure are its facings, while the core primarily serves to resist transverse shear loads, enhance local strength ...
