Stability of Multilayer Sandwich Plates [PDF]
A variational method of elasticity is applied to the stability of multilayer sandwich plates consisting of isotropic homogeneous membrane facing layers and orthotropic homogeneous core layers. Both facing and core layers may have different thicknesses and elastic properties. The theory accounts for shear deformation.

Combined shear/compression structural testing of asymmetric sandwich structures [PDF]
Asymmetric sandwich technology can be applied in the design of lightweight, non-pressurized aeronautical structures such as those of helicopters. A test rig of asymmetric sandwich structures subjected to compression/shear loads was designed, validated ...

Bending and vibration of functionally graded material sandwich plates using an accurate theory
In this paper, the bending and the free flexural vibration behaviour of sandwich functionally graded material (FGM) plates are investigated using QUAD-8 shear flexible element developed based on higher order structural theory.

On a theory of sandwich construction [PDF]
The theory of sandwich construction developed in this paper proceeds from the simple assumption that the filling has only transverse direct and shear stiffnesses, corresponding to its functional requirements (§1). This supposition permits integration

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
