The use of synchrotron edge topography to study polytype nearest neighbour relationships in SiC [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A brief review of the phenomenon of polytypism is presented and its prolific abundance in Silicon Carbide discussed. An attempt has been made to emphasise modern developments in understanding this unique behaviour. The properties of Synchrotron Radiation

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Sandwich-structure transferable free-form OLEDs for wearable and disposable skin wound photomedicine

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2019
Free-form optoelectronic devices can provide hyper-connectivity over space and time. However, most conformable optoelectronic devices can only be fabricated on flat polymeric materials using low-temperature processes, limiting their application and forms.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

The Dynamic Response of Sandwich Structures with Cellular MetallicCore under Blast Loading

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2019
Porous metal sandwich structures have been widely used in aerospace and other fields. It is of great significance to study their explosion-resistant and energy-absorbing properties. The dynamic response of sandwich structures with MHS(metal hollow sphere)

Crashworthiness behavior of aircraft sandwich structure with honeycomb core under bending load.

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Sandwich structures have been widely used as lightweight composite parts in the aerospace and shipbuilding engineering for their high capacity of stiffness, strength and energy absorption. There are three different criteria in bending crashworthiness for

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Titanium honeycomb structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
A brazed titanium honeycomb sandwich system for supersonic transport wing cover panels provides the most efficient structure spanwise, chordwise, and loadwise. Flutter testing shows that high wing stiffness is most efficient in a sandwich structure. This
