Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Experimental investigation on mechanical behavior of sandwich structures using Digital Image Correlation (DIC)

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity
The aim of this work is to investigate the mechanical behavior of sandwich structures when subjected to edgewise and flatwise compression loadings, using 2D Digital Image Correlation (DIC).

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Review of crack arresters performance in sandwich structure impact response

open access: yesNext Materials
Sandwich structures are rapidly replacing metallic materials in structural applications owing to their high strength-to-weight ratio and light weight. Failures in sandwich structures occur when composite sandwich panels are subjected to tensile, bending,

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Mechanical behavior of a sandwich with corrugated GRP core: numerical modeling and experimental validation

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2014
In this work the mechanical behaviour of a core reinforced composite sandwich structure is studied. The sandwich employs a Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) orthotropic material for both the two external skins and the inner core web. In particular, the core

The Moisture Diffusion Equation for Moisture Absorption of Multiphase Symmetrical Sandwich Structures

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
When hydrophilic materials (such as natural fiber, epoxy resin or concrete) compose sandwich structures, the moisture absorption from hydrothermal environments may significantly affect their mechanical properties.

Risk of Non‐Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Patients Treated with GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) have demonstrated significant weight‐reducing effects and may offer benefits in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH); however, recent concerns about the risk of non‐arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) have emerged.

Bending Behavior of 3D Printed Polymeric Sandwich Structures with Various Types of Core Topologies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automotive Science and Technology, 2023
In this study, bending performance and energy absorption capabilities of sandwich structures with different types of core topologies. Specifically, four types of core geome-tries including cylindrical, hexagonal, square, and triangular were investigated.
