A review of the most recent states-of-the-art allows a comprehensive revision of the questions involved in the major problems of liquefaction. Exact and simplified procedures of determining the liquefaction potential are revised. The question of induction and dissipation of pore pressures is dealt with.

High Tree Species Diversity Promotes Thermal Enhancement Response of Microbial Carbon Use Efficiency
ABSTRACT Predicting soil carbon dynamics under warming is constrained by limited understanding of microbial thermal adaptation, particularly whether microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) can adapt to warming and how plant diversity modulates this response. Using soils from a natural tree species diversity gradient in a subtropical forest, we combined a

Soil organic matter influences the agronomic efficiency of boron fertilizers in sandy Oxisol cultivated with soybean [PDF]
Boron (B) is readily leached from the soil, depending on the soil texture, soil organic matter (OM) content, and the fertilizer source used. This can restrict B uptake by plants. Therefore, we investigated the most adequate B source for soybeans grown in

Strengthening sandy soils by microbial methods
Some contemporary methods and materials are available in geotechnical engineering to improve the engineering performance of soils. Bacterial calcium carbonate cementation could be an innovative application by bonding at the particle contacts and increasing the shear strength.

Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.
