Hidden Costs of Ethical Fashion: Sustainable Development Goals and Garment Worker Exploitation in Bangladesh

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Across garment factories in the Global South, the promise of “ethical fashion” coexists with poverty wages and retaliation. This study examines why the global call for decent work has not improved labor conditions in Bangladesh's ready‐made garment industry.

Hybrid Emulsion‐Dispersion (HED) Polymerization Enables One‐Pot Synthesis of Functional Janus Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A hybrid emulsion‐dispersion (HED) polymerization strategy enables one‐pot synthesis of functional Janus nanoparticles without seed preparation or multistep processing. Controlled morphology and surface stratification produce rechargeable antimicrobial coatings with durable activity. HED provides a simple and scalable route toward functional asymmetric

Smart molecular design of NIR‐II organic fluorophores through self‐driven iterative evolution, deep learning, and fragment‐based assembly

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
A smart design strategy for NIR‐II organic fluorophores is proposed by combining self‐driven Iterative evolution, deep Learning, and fragment‐based assembly. This work establishes a broadly applicable approach for molecular design, accelerating the discovery of NIR‐II fluorophores and extending to optoelectronic materials and therapeutic compounds ...

A multifunctional near‐infrared dual‐channel off‐on‐off probe for sequential detection of fluoride and hypochlorous acid: Multimatrix applications

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
This multifunctional, sequence‐specific probe (DHM) enables stepwise detection: fluoride triggers red/near‐infrared emission via cleavage, then hypochlorous acid induces blue fluorescence. It achieves fast, selective visual detection in environmental samples, foods, and in vivo models.

Recursive Grid Indexing for Fast Non‐Uniform Quantization Without Binary Search

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To present Recursive Grid Indexing (RGI), a practical software technique for accelerating non‐uniform quantization and predecessor queries without relying on binary search at any stage. Design/Methodology/Approach RGI replaces conventional logarithmic binary search with a recursive, low‐branching grid structure. The method constructs a

When Time Stands Still: The Destructive Experience of Ambiguous Loss among Mothers of Combat Soldiers

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
What happens when stories refuse coherence? This article examines ambiguous loss among mothers of combat soldiers, focusing on how prolonged waiting and uncertainty infiltrate everyday life, eroding sensemaking. Drawing on ethnographic interviews, it explores how mothers experience the contraction of time and space—manifested in suspended routines ...

Madrasa Ideologies of English in Bangladesh: Questioning ELT‐Aid and Post‐9/11 De‐Islamization

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract External donors increasingly promote English as a notionally value‐neutral language of socioeconomic advancements in the Muslim South, overlooking local ideological diversities. Furthermore, national and Western forces deploy English as a tool to de‐Islamize madrasas (Islamic educational institutes) in the post‐9/11 world for global peace ...

Sustainable Bacterial Control of Hatching Eggshells Using Essential Oils

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background: Decontamination of poultry surfaces through appropriate hygiene and sanitation measures can partially mitigate bacterial problems, as this process does not result in the complete elimination of bacteria.

Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.

Multivariate Analysis of Microbiological and Incubation Parameters in Hatching Eggs Sanitized with or Without Essential Oils

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Aspects related to the contamination of hatching eggs, sanitary management during pre-incubation, and the performance of the incubation process can compromise productive efficiency in poultry farming.
