Petroleum geochemistry of the Southern Santos Basin, offshore Brazil

Journal of the Geological Society, 1983
Significant thicknesses of hydrocarbon source rocks (up to 1000 m) were identified in 1–SPS–17, l–SCS–4A, –5 and –6, in the Southern Santos Basin. These marine shales of Cenomanian to Coniacian ages generally contain l–2.5% organic carbon. Pyrolysis maximum potential yields are moderate rather than good, averaging 3–4 kg hydrocarbons/tonne of rock over

The Ocean Observing System for Santos Basin: Project Blue

Volume 7: Ocean Space Utilization; Professor Emeritus J. Randolph Paulling Honoring Symposium on Ocean Technology, 2014
The Santos Basin region is located in the southeast part of Brazilian offshore region and contains the most important presalt oil reservoirs. The oceanographic knowledge of this region is very important for the future challenges related with oil exploration and production.

2D TTI Imaging in the Santos Basin: A Case History

12th International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society & EXPOGEF, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 15–18 August 2011, 2011
The pre-salt section of the Santos Basin has been the focus of much recent interest following the discovery of significant reserves in the region. An evaluation project on two 2D lines from a large regional survey shows that a redesigned processing flow incorporating Tilted Transverse Isotropy (TTI) and Reverse Time Migration (RTM) delivers improved ...

Improved Imaging in the Santos Basin with Full Waveform Inversion

Proceedings, 2014
We illustrate an example of FWI successfully applied on a regional dataset from the Santos Basin. FWI is run in a tomographic mode. The velocity field obtained after FWI updates the post-salt sediments zone. It allow us to detect the post-salt high velocity Albian unit and to better image sub-salt and intra-salt features with RTM. This case study allow

Rapid, large scale depth imaging in the Santos Basin

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2009, 2009
This paper reviews the 3D pre-stack depth model building and imaging workflow of the Santos Basin Mega-depth project. The Santos Basin Mega-depth project is located “up-dip” of the recent deepwater pre-salt discoveries, and covers over 20,000 square kilometers of the deepwater Santos Basin.

Rifts of the Campos and Santos Basins, Southeastern Brazil

2000
Abstract Satellite-derived gravity anomalies were used to map the location and distribution of rift subbasins comprising the Campos and Santos Basins of the southeastern Brazilian continental margin. Free-air and crustal Bouguer gravity anomalies define several features.

CCGS Opportunities in the Santos Basin Pre-Salt Development

SPE International Conference on Health, Safety and Environment in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production, 2010
Abstract This paper describes the current studies to define alternatives for the geological storage of the CO2 present in the associated gas to be produced from the Pre-salt reservoirs of the Santos Basin, Brazil. Recent hydrocarbon discoveries in Santos Basin, offshore Brazil, in the so-called pre-salt reservoirs, brought

Evolution of tricyclic alkanes in the Espirito Santo Basin, Brazil

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1986
Abstract The distributions of tricyclic isoprenoid alkanes were characterized in the Neocomian sequence from the Espirito Santo Basin, Brazil, by high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and co-injection with synthetic standards where available.
