The Isolated Thumb Domain of Acid‐Sensing Ion Channels Forms a Minimal Folding Unit Enabling Ligand Binding Studies

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 19, 4 May 2026.
An independently folded thumb domain from acid‐sensing ion channels (ASICs) preserves ligand‐binding and proton‐sensing properties. NMR‐based interaction and pKa analyses uncover how endogenous and exogenous peptides modulate ASICs, providing a simplified model for rational drug discovery targeting proton‐gated ion channels.

No Remedy: Injustice and Constrained Citizenship in Indonesia's Plantation Zone

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This contribution to the special issue examines a constrained version of citizenship in Indonesia's plantation zone. When corporations take hold of village land, residents experience devastating dispossession and a profound sense of injustice, yet they lack effective channels through which to claim rights as citizens or secure remedy from the ...

Potential use of Lactobacillus casei TISTR 1500 for the bioconversion from palmyra sap and oil palm sap to lactic acid

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology, 2011
Lactic acid is a product that finds several applications in food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The main objective of this work is to evaluate potential use of the sap from palmyra ( Borassus flabellifer Linn.) and oil palm ( Elaeis guineensis ) as substrate for lactic acid production by Lactobacillus casei TISTR 1500.

The streamlined genome of Phytomonas spp. relative to human pathogenic kinetoplastids reveals a parasite tailored for plants.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2014
Members of the family Trypanosomatidae infect many organisms, including animals, plants and humans. Plant-infecting trypanosomes are grouped under the single genus Phytomonas, failing to reflect the wide biological and pathological diversity of these ...

Revisiting the Molecular Roadmap for Sugar Crops: Genome Reading, Trait Writing and Variety Redesigning

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sugar crops, including but not limited to sugarcane, sugar beet, sweet sorghum and stevia, are major sources of sugar production in the world. However, conventional breeding approaches, limited by long breeding cycles, low efficiency and restricted capacity to improve complex traits in sugar crops, are increasingly insufficient to address the ...

Employing a Hysteresis Approach to Analyze Shifts in Tree Physiological Thresholds in Response to Drought

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Drought‐induced tree mortality underscores the need for improved physiological models to predict tree responses to water stress. We employed a hysteresis modelling approach analyzing diel water absorption and desorption cycles to understand drought‐induced shifts in physiological thresholds.

Predicting tree sap flux and stomatal conductance from drone-recorded surface temperatures in a mixed agroforestry system — a machine learning approach

open access: yes, 2020
Plant transpiration is a key element in the hydrological cycle. Widely used methods for its assessment comprise sap flux techniques for whole-plant transpiration and porometry for leaf stomatal conductance.
