Saproxylic beetles in the Grésigne Forest management

Alternative silvicultural practices in irregular boreal forests: response of beetle assemblages
In the process of implementing sustainable management in the eastern Canadian boreal forest, we tested two selection cutting methods and compared them with two widely used practices in the boreal forest: clearcutting with protection of the advanced ...

Impact of habitat associations on saproxylic beetle assemblages and their damage severity. [PDF]
Abstract Saproxylic beetles, as primary decomposers in forest ecosystems, play a crucial role in the decomposition of dead wood. However, there is a significant gap in understanding the extent of assemblages and damage caused by these insects, which is essential for managing the quality and utilization of dead wood resources in natural ...

Saproxylic Darkling beetles (Coleopteria: Tenebrionidae) from the Republic of Moldova
Species diversity of saproxilic coleoptera from the Tenebrionidae family collected during 2005 – 2022 years, cited in previous papers and stored in the collections of three entomological museums from the Republic of Moldova was studied. A total of 21 species belonging to 19 genera and 3 subfamilies were identified.

Saproxylic beetles (Insecta, Coleoptera) of Greece: A synthesis of diversity, biogeography and conservation challenges, with the first national checklist [PDF]
Saproxylic Coleoptera are beetles that depend on, or contribute to, the decomposition of dead wood. They are often used as indicators of forest quality and attract substantial conservation interest.

Diversity of saproxylic beetle communities in chestnut agroforestry systems [PDF]
Abstract: Chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) has been exploited over the centuries for different uses. Nowadays, chestnut is mostly managed as coppice or orchard, creating a matrix of different forest structures. In particular, saproxylic species may provide information to correlate forest naturalness with stand structure. In this study, we evaluated how

Natural dynamics in forests play an important role in the lives of many species. In the landscape of managed forests, natural disturbances are reduced by management activities. This usually has a significant effect on insect diversity.
