High-grade Sarcomatous Overgrowth in Solitary Fibrous Tumors

American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2012
We describe 10 solitary fibrous tumors (SFT) with high-grade malignant overgrowth, all of which showed the presence of a synchronous or previous classic SFT/malignant SFT (MSFT) component. Seven were "dedifferentiated," with an abrupt transition from a classic SFT/MSFT to a high-grade component consisting of a nondistinctive high-grade sarcoma in 4 ...

Extragenital mullerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth arising in an endometriotic cyst in the pouch of Douglas

International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, 2001
Mullerian adenosarcoma is a neoplasm composed of benign mullerian epithelium and a sarcomatous stroma. This tumor classically occurs in the endometrium of postmenopausal women and less frequently in the extrauterine genital tract. Rare cases of extragenital adenosarcoma have been reported.

Uterine Carcinosarcoma with Complete Sarcomatous Overgrowth Mimicking Pure Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma

International Journal of Gynecological Pathology, 2003
A polypoid endometrial tumor arising in an 89-year-old woman was composed of pure embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, whereas the metastatic tumor in the pelvic lymph nodes was entirely adenocarcinomatous. This finding indicates that some rhabdomyosarcomas of the uterus represent carcinosarcomas with extensive or total overgrowth by the sarcomatous component.

Primary Peritoneal Mullerian Adenosarcoma with Sarcomatous Overgrowth Associated with Endometriosis: A Case Report

International Journal of Gynecological Pathology, 2002
We report a primary peritoneal mullerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth associated with endometriosis in a 50-year-old female. The tumor formed multiple peritoneal masses occupying the pelvis and subdiaphragmatic space. Histologically, the tumor was composed of benign-appearing mullerian glands surrounded by a sarcomatous stroma. In addition,

148 Mullerian adenosarcoma of the uterine cervix with sarcomatous overgrowth

American Journal of Clinical Pathology
Abstract Introduction/Objective Mullerian adenosarcomas are biphasic tumors with benign epithelium and malignant stroma, typically found in the uterine corpus but rarely in the cervix, ovaries and other locations.

Pleural Malignant Solitary Fibrous Tumor With Sarcomatous Overgrowth Showing PDGFR β Mutation

Chest, 2006
Pleural malignant solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are uncommon, and little is known about their histogenesis and molecular features. We report a case of pleural SFT with sarcomatous overgrowth that showed expression for PDGFRbeta and a missense mutation on exon 18 of the PDGFRbeta gene.

Müllerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth and heterologous elements: A case report and literature review

Revista Espanola De Patologia
Uterine mullerian adenosarcoma (MA) is a rare biphasic tumour that accounts for less than 0.5% of uterine neoplasms. The age range of presentation is wide, with the median age in the 5th decade of life. It usually has a good prognosis; however, it worsens when it presents with sarcomatous overgrowth, heterologous elements or infiltrates the myometrium.

Juvenile granulosa cell tumor arising in ovarian adenosarcoma: an unusual form of sarcomatous overgrowth

Human Pathology, 2015
We report 2 ovarian neoplasms in women aged 58 and 69 years composed of an admixture of adenosarcoma and a predominant stromal component morphologically and immunohistochemically in keeping with juvenile granulosa cell tumor. As far as we are aware, this association has not been reported previously.

Mullerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth of the cervix presenting as cervical polyp: a case report and review of the literature

International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, 2004
An aggressive variant of adenosarcoma, mullerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth (MASO) in the cervix is extremely rare. This variant contains obvious, high-grade sarcoma in addition to a low-grade form. In this report, we describe a case of MASO of the uterine cervix and review the clinical and pathological features of these tumors.
