Presence of Sardinella maderensis is described in Balearic Islands using a photograph register of an specimen captured in 2003 and the morphometric and meristic characters of another specimen captured in 2009. Both specimens have been fished in Palma Bay. These captures expand its distribution area in the Mediterranean.
