Sargassum thunbergii Extract Attenuates High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity in Mice by Modulating AMPK Activation and the Gut Microbiota [PDF]
Sargassum thunbergii (Mertens ex Roth) Kuntze (ST) is a brown alga rich in indole-2-carboxaldehyde. This study aimed to investigate the anti-obesity effects of ethanol extract from ST in in vitro and in vivo models.

Biosorption of Pb and Cr by Using Sargassum thunbergii [PDF]
The biosorption of Pb and Cr by Sargassum thunbergii was investigated in a batch conditions. The Pb and Cr uptake capacity of Sargassum thunbergii was 232.5 mg Pb/g biomass and 91.6 mg Cr/g biomass, respectively. An adsorption equilibria was reached within about 0.5 hr for both the Pb and the Cr.

Bisorption of chromium(VI) from aqueous solutions by Sargassum thunbergii Kuntze. [PDF]
The potential to remove Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions through biosorption using dried Sargassum thunbergii Kuntze was investigated with respect to initial pH, amount of biosorbent, initial Cr(VI) concentrations and temperature. Cr(VI) removal efficiency was influenced significantly by the variation of pH, and the optimum pH was about 2.0. Moreover, the

Three Norisoprenoids from the Brown Alga Sargassum thunbergii
From Sargassum thunbergii which is widely distributed in coastal area of Korea, three norisoprenoids, (+)-epiloliolide (1), (-)-loliolide (2), and apo-9'-fucoxanthinone (3) were isolated by using column chromatography and reverse-phase HPLC. Compound 1, 2 and 3 were for the first time isolated from the Brown Alga Sargassum thunbergii.
