A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

SAT-To-SAT in QBFEval 2016

open access: yesCEUR Workshop Proceedings, 2016
In this short paper, we describe QBF solvers from the latest QBFEval that were based on the SAT-To-SAT solver. We present the main ideas behind the solvers and discuss their strengths and weaknesses.

Seroprevalence studies of human brucellosis in pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO) patients by various diagnostic modalities

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care
Background: Brucellosis is a re-emerging zoonosis with global distribution. In India, it remains common but often neglected. In Rajasthan, where agriculture is prevalent, frequent contact with infected animals such as goats, sheep, and cattle leads to ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Steroids and/or Cytotoxic Agents Should Be Used Early in the Management of Patients with IPF -- The Pro Argument

open access: yesCanadian Respiratory Journal, 2004
Idiopathic interstitial pneumonias comprise a heterogenous group of acute and chronic respiratory conditions. Katzenstein and Myers (1) classified these disorders according to several pathologically distinct categories: usual interstitial pneumonitis

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Prescriptive stereotypes, negative attitudes toward older adults, and social participation: surveys on younger and older Japanese

open access: yesCogent Gerontology
Promoting the active engagement of older individuals within society carries significant importance. Nevertheless, negative attitudes toward older adults can act as a hindrance.

Comparing Sensitivity of Ultrasonography and Plain Chest Radiography in Detection of Pneumonia; a Diagnostic Value Study

open access: yesArchives of Academic Emergency Medicine, 2019
Introduction: Rapid detection of pneumonia and early initiation of antibiotic therapy are associated with better prognosis in patients. The present study was designed aiming to evaluate the sensitivity of chest ultrasonography performed by emergency ...
