Rotating Fluorescent Nanodiamond Assemblies With Focused Laguerre–Gaussian Beams
Self‐assembled fluorescent nanodiamond clusters are optically trapped and driven into controlled two‐dimensional rotation with Laguerre–Gaussian beams. With localized optical excitation, optically detected magnetic resonance spectra are collected at defined points along the orbit in a uniform external magnetic field.

Motion events occur frequently in everyday life as people and objects constantly change their relative location to one another. Although children's descriptions of motion events resemble those of adults in their own language group from very early on ...

Micromachined Double‐Membrane Mechanically Tunable Metamaterial for Thermal Infrared Filtering
Herein, a mechanically tunable double‐layer plasmonic metamaterial leveraging the extraordinary optical transmission effect observed in subwavelength arrays of openings within thin metal layers is presented. The concept is experimentally validated by integrating the proposed metamaterial structure into an electrostatic parallel‐plate actuator to create

Serialising languages: Satellite-framed, verb-framed or neither
The diversity in the coding of the core schema of motion, i.e., Path, has led to a traditional typology of languages into verb-framed and satellite-framed languages. In the former Path is encoded in verbs and in the latter it is encoded in non-verb elements that function as sisters to co-event expressing verbs such as manner verbs.

A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.

Verb-framed and satellite-framed patterns in Brazilian and European Portuguese

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

This review maps the methods to monitor robots’ health by fusing vibration, sound, control signals, vision, force, and oil information with artificial intelligence. It identifies deep learning, transfer learning, digital twins, and physics‐informed models as key methodological pathways enabling earlier diagnosis, safer human–robot collaboration, and ...

Moving places. The syntax of goal of motion constructions revisited
‘Goal of motion’ constructions have been used in the literature (Talmy 1985, Klipple 1997, Higginbotham 1999, Rappaport Hovav and Levin 2001, Ramchand and Folli 2001, etc.) as the basis for setting a parameter which distinguishes English (a satellite ...
