Channel simulation on LEO satellites

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1999 Digest. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.99CH37010), 2003
A channel simulation program in the Ka-band has been developed to study the characteristics of the communication link between the ground station and the ROCSAT-1. The effects of orbital parameters, power level, antenna radiation patterns, rain attenuation, transmission data rate, and internal noise source on the carrier-to-noise ratio are studied.

Measurement based satellite to outdoor channel modeling for multiple satellite systems

2008 14th European Wireless Conference, 2008
In this contribution we present the results of a study on satellite to outdoor channel modeling for satellite systems with multiple satellites. Our model for several satellites is based on a first order Markov channel state model for joint processes. The probability density function (PDF) of the signal amplitude within each state is fitted to the Loo ...

Blind separability for single-channel mixtures in satellite channels

2011 IEEE International Conference on Anti-Counterfeiting, Security and Identification, 2011
Aimed at single channel mixing signals with the same modulating parameters, separability problem for single channel blind source separation (SCBSS) in satellite flat fading channels is treated in this paper. Firstly, on the basis of single channel mixing model, multi-input single-output (MISO) model of the problem is transformed into multi-input multi ...

Coding for satellite and space channels

International Journal of Electronics, 1983
Abstract This paper addresses the issues of justifications, variations, and performance measures of error coding applications for communication satellite and deep space channels. Justifications are discussed through power, bandwidth, and complexity tradeoffs.

Characteristics of the Land Mobile Satellite MIMO Channel

IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2006
This paper presents inclusive details of a measurement campaign carried out in Guildford, UK, during the summer of 2005, where the land dual-antenna mobile, dual-satellite MIMO channel at S band frequencies was characterized. Two emulated, adjacently positioned, low elevation satellites, each with a right hand circular polarized antenna, communicate ...
