Enhancing the precision limits of interferometric satellite geodesy missions [PDF]
Satellite geodesy uses the measurement of the motion of one or more satellites to infer precise information about the Earth’s gravitational field. In this work, we consider the achievable precision limits on such measurements by examining approximate ...

Magmatic connectivity among six Galápagos volcanoes revealed by satellite geodesy [PDF]
Shallow magmatic reservoirs that produce measurable volcanic surface deformation are often considered as discrete independent systems. However, petrological analyses of erupted products suggest that these may be the shallowest expression of extensive ...

A new laser-ranged satellite for General Relativity and space geodesy: I. An introduction to the LARES2 space experiment [PDF]
We introduce the LARES 2 space experiment recently approved by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The LARES 2 satellite is planned for launch in 2019 with the new VEGA C launch vehicle of ASI, ESA and ELV.

SDUST2023GRA_MSS: the new global marine gravity anomaly model determined from mean sea surface model [PDF]
The global marine gravity anomalies are primarily recovered from geoid gradients in the along-track directions obtained through satellite altimetry. However, the accuracy of the gravity model is significantly constrained by the sparse geoid gradients in ...

Origin and Scale of Coordinate Systems in Satellite Geodesy [PDF]
AbstractThe center of mass of the Earth is commonly taken as origin for the coordinate systems used in satellite geodesy. In this paper the notion of the “geocenter” is discussed from the point of view of mechanics and geophysics. It is shown that processes in and above the crust have practically no impact on the position of the geocenter.

Recent Advances in Marine Geodesy of China [PDF]
The ocean accounts for approximately 71% of the total area of the Earth. Whether it is studying the shape of the Earth itself through geodesy or the future development of earth system science, strengthening the construction of ocean geodesy disciplines ...
