The effect of the Madden-Julian Oscillation on station rainfall and river level in the Fly River system, Papua New Guinea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Madden-Julian oscillation (MJO) is the dominant mode of intraseasonal variability in tropical rainfall on the large scale, but its signal is often obscured in individual station data, where effects are most directly felt at the local level.

Precipitation Regime Classification Based on Cloud-Top Temperature Time Series for Spatially-Varied Parameterization of Precipitation Models

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Satellite and reanalysis precipitation products perform poorly over regions with low-density ground observation networks. In order to improve space-dependent parameterization of precipitation estimation models in data-scarce environments, the delineation

Summertime evaluation of REFAME over the Unites States for near real-time high resolution precipitation estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Precipitation is the key input for hydrometeorological modeling and applications. In many regions of the world, including populated areas, ground-based measurement of precipitation (whether from radar or rain gauge) is either sparse in time and space or ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Deep-Learning-Based Multi-Channel Satellite Precipitation Forecasting Enhanced by Cloud Phase Classification

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Clouds are closely related to precipitation, as their type, microphysical characteristics, and dynamic properties determine the intensity, duration, and form of rainfall. While geostationary satellites offer continuous cloud-top observations, they cannot
