Satellite selection for multi-constellation
2008 IEEE/ION Position, Location and Navigation Symposium, 2008There will be 70~90 navigation satellites operating at the same time when Glonass and Galileo reach full operation capability. As a result, the number of visible satellites can reach 30. Thus the positioning accuracy will be improved greatly. However, so many satellite measurements may burden the receiverpsilas processing element when to use them to ...

Satellite earth station (SeS) selection method for satellite-based sensor networks
IEEE Communications Letters, 2007The reference network is composed of a group of wireless sensors directly in view of a cluster of satellite earth stations (CoSES), which convey the information coming from the sensors to a destination remote monitoring host (RMH). More than one satellite earth station (SES), all in this letter, within the cluster receive the information packets but to

Selective DF relaying for mobile satellite broadcasting
21st Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2010This paper addresses mobile terminal (MT) relaying in order to improve the performance of mobile satellite broadcasting. It considers selective decode-and-forward (SDF) relaying with BICM-OFDM air interface. The BER upper bound was derived for the threshold-based SDF relaying in Rician fading channels.

Resolution selective change detection in satellite images
2010 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2010In this paper, we propose a novel method for unsupervised change detection in satellite images. A feature vector for each pixel is extracted using the multiresolution representation of the difference image which is computed from the multitemporal satellite images of the same scene acquired at different time instances.

Satellite selection scheme for reducing handover attempts in LEO satellite communication systems
International Journal of Satellite Communications, 1998Low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication systems perform frequent intersatellite handovers for both fixed and mobile users. This paper proposes a satellite selection scheme for new/handover call requests when two or more satellites can be seen simultaneously. Each satellite in this scheme has a non-uniform transmitter antenna gain according to its

Selection of GPS satellites for the optimum geometry
Chinese Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2004In GPS applications, the position and clock error of the station can be obtained from observations of four visible satellites. The selection of the four satellites, or their geometrical configuration with respect to the station, affects directly the positioning accuracy.

Selection of satellite constellation framework of CAPS
Science in China Series G: Physics, Mechanics and Astronomy, 2009Based on the idea of transmitting the satellite navigation and positioning system, taking the distribution and variation of the Position Dilution of Precision factor (PDOP), which is closely related with the precision of navigation and positioning, within the China area as the primary criterion, we analyze and discuss the tentative plan of ...
