Selecting and scheduling observations of agile satellites

Aerospace Science and Technology, 2002
Abstract This article concerns the problem of managing the new generation of Agile Earth Observing Satellites (AEOS). This kind of satellites is presently studied by the French Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (PLEIADES project). The mission of an Earth Observing Satellite is to acquire images of specified areas on the Earth surface, in response to

Satellite Selection in Multi-GNSS Positioning

ION GNSS+, The International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of The Institute of Navigation, 2016
Satellites selection can be performed based on constellation geometry, ranging-signal quality, or both. For applications where multipath and blockage are not major problems, Signal-in-Space (SIS) user range error varies less significantly, which is the case for many applications most of the time.

Satellite Selection for Multi-Constellation SBAS

ION GNSS+, The International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of The Institute of Navigation, 2016
The incorporation of multiple constellations into satellite based augmentation systems (SBAS) may lead to cases where there are more corrected satellites in view than a receiver has tracking channels. This paper addresses two related topics: identifying the most important satellites to track in order to provide availability; and identifying a ...

Photomultiplier Selection Criteria for Satellite Experiments

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1974
Forty-six RCA C 7151 Q photomultiplier tubes and thirty-five EMI 9711 NB photomultiplier tubes have been tested for use in the telescope of the COS-B gamma-ray experiment. The tubes were selected taking into account gain, linearity, fatigue behaviour and temperature characteristics.

Bridging the Gap in Modulation Selection for Satellite Optical Communication

2024 14th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks and Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP)
The integration of space and terrestrial networks is envisaged as a promising approach to achieve enhanced quality of service in terms of coverage, throughput and data traffic management. To this end, optical wireless communication represents a suitable technology to realize reliable and high-rate ground-space and inter-satellite links.

Global Positioning System Satellite Selection

1981
Abstract : This report describes an investigation of whether GPS satellite selection algorithms that consider jammer-to-signal ratio as well as Geometric Dilution of Precision can provide better navigation performance than an algorithm which discriminates on the basis of GDOP alone.
