Analysis And Performance Of A Picosecond Dye Laser Amplifier Chain [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Design considerations are discussed for a simple, easy to use and relatively efficient high gain dye laser amplifier chain for CW mode-locked dye lasers. The amplifier boosts the output of a synchronously mode-locked dye laser to obtain ≈005 mj, ≤ 1 psec

Ultrafast Graphene-Plasmonic Hybrid Metasurface Saturable Absorber with Low Saturation Fluence

open access: yesACS Nano, 2023
Exploring novel materials with enhanced optical nonlinearities at low power levels with ultrafast response and small footprints is of great interests for information processing, communication, sensing and quantum systems. Recent progress on nonlinear metamaterials and metasurfaces suggests promising solutions to overcome the limitations of nonlinear ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

All-Fiber Saturable Absorbers for Ultrafast Fiber Lasers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
The past decade has witnessed tremendous achievements of ultrafast fiber laser technologies due to rapid developments of saturable absorbers (SAs) based on, in particular, nanomaterials such as 0D quantum dot, 1D carbon nanotubes, 2D layered materials ...

Large energy soliton erbium-doped fiber laser with a graphene-polymer composite mode locker

open access: yes, 2009
Due to its unique electronic property and the Pauli Blocking Principle, atomic layer graphene possesses wavelength-independent ultrafast saturable absorption, which can be exploited for the ultrafast photonics application.

Exciton-exciton annihilation in MoSe2 monolayers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the excitonic dynamics in MoSe2 monolayer and bulk samples by femtosecond transient absorption microscopy. Excitons are resonantly injected by a 750-nm and 100-fs laser pulse, and are detected by a probe pulse tuned in the range of 790 ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Passive Q-Switching of a Diode-Pumped Pr:LiYF4 Visible Laser Using WS2 as Saturable Absorber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
Q-switched laser operation of a blue-diode-pumped Pr:LiYF4 laser is demonstrated at 640 nm for the first time by using a tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanosheet material as a saturable absorber.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Exploiting nonlinear properties of pure and Sn-doped Bi2Te2Se for passive Q-switching of all-polarization maintaining ytterbium- and erbium-doped fiber lasers

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Due to their broadband nonlinear optical properties, low-dimensional materials are widely used for pulse generation in fiber and solid-state lasers. Here we demonstrate novel materials, Bi2Te2Se (BTS) and Sn-doped Bi2Te2Se (BSTS), which can be used as a ...
