Saturable absorption dynamics of DODCI
Optical and Quantum Electronics, 1991The saturable absorption dynamics of DODCI in a femtosecond dye laser is studied theoretically. The N-isomer and P-isomer photoisomerization dynamics is included. The wavelength region between 570 nm and 650 nm is considered where the N-isomer and P-isomer absorption dynamics changes from short-wavelength to long-wavelength s0-s1 excitation.

Transition from saturable absorption to reverse saturable absorption in multi-layered WS2 nanosheets
Optics & Laser Technology, 2021Abstract By employing the Z-scan technique, the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of multi-layered WS2 nanosheets (WNSs) are investigated using pulsed (10 ns) laser irradiation having wavelength of 532 nm. In the trilayer WNSs, the transformation from saturable absorption (SA) to reverse saturation absorption (RSA) is clearly observed only when the ...

Reverse Saturable Absorption followed by Anomalous Saturable Absorption in Rhodamine-700
13th International Conference on Fiber Optics and Photonics, 2016Anomalous SA (saturable absorption) in presence of reverse saturable absorption (RSA) in Rhodamine-700 is reported employing Z-scan with 100 ns, 250 Hz pulses in methanol. SA is observed only at a particular intensity range otherwise RSA survives.

We measured the variation of the transmission of solutions of HITC in different solvents as a function of the intensity and duration of the incident pulse. Good agreement is found between our experimental results and the theoretical models proposed by Hercher.

Absorption saturation in optically excited graphene
Applied Physics Letters, 2012We investigate the saturation of the optical absorption in graphene induced by ultrafast optical pulses. Within a microscopic theory, we study the momentum-, angle-, and time-resolved interplay of anisotropic excitation, carrier-carrier, and carrier-phonon scattering, and its influence on the saturation of absorption and transmission. In agreement with

Saturable absorption and reverse saturable absorption on silver particles with different shapes
Applied Physics A, 2014Micro/nanostructured silver particles with different shapes (flower, wire, and rod) have been prepared and characterized. All the open aperture z-scan curves of silver microrods and silver nanoflowers present a typical reverse saturable absorption.

Microwave spectrometer for saturated absorption experiments
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1978A spectrometer has been built to perform Doppler-free saturated absorption experiments in the millimeter range (30–300 GHz); a plane-cylindrical resonator between Stark plates has been used. With that device, inverted Lamb-dips have been observed at 115 GHz with a width 25 times below the Doppler width.

Precision saturated absorption spectroscopy of H3+
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2018In our previous work on the Lamb-dips of the ν2 fundamental band transitions of H3+, the saturated absorption spectrum was obtained by third-derivative spectroscopy using frequency modulation with an optical parametric oscillator (OPO). However, frequency modulation also caused errors in the absolute frequency determination.

MoS2 nanoflake array films on different glass substrates were fabricated by an in situ growth method. The nonlinear absorption (NLA) properties of the MoS2 nanoflake array films were investigated by an open-aperture Z-scan technique. The films exhibited different NLA properties dependent on the input energy.

Phase Conjugation with Saturable Gain and Saturable Absorption
Photorefractive Materials, Effects, and Devices, 1991We have investigated 2WM and 4WM processes in photorefractive crystals in the nonsaturated regime, i.e. when the coupling between beams and the absorption depend on the light intensity. Different models of saturable absorption in 2WM via reflection grating are considered, and the corresponding wave equations are solved exactly.
