Effect of entrapped air on hydraulic conductivity in quasi-saturated porous media

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2019
The groundwater flow with entrapped air was termed as quasi-saturated flow. The entrapped air in quasi-saturated flow of aquifer had a significant influence on hydraulic conductivity of porous media.

Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Scandinavian Tills

open access: yesHydrology Research, 1990
There is a distinctive difference in hydraulic properties between the upper horizons of Scandinavian till soil and the deeper C-horizon. The hydraulic conductivity has been studied in different soil profile types, mainly Podzolic variants. In the topsoil there are correlations from grain size and porosity to hydraulic conductivity.

A pH‐Based Pedotransfer Function for Scaling Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity Reduction: Improved Estimation of Hydraulic Dynamics in HYDRUS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hydraulic conductivity is a key soil property governing agricultural production and is thus an important parameter in hydrologic modeling. The pH scaling factor for saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) reduction in the HYDRUS model was reviewed and ...

Artificial neural network optimization to predict saturated hydraulic conductivity in arid and semi-arid regions

open access: yes, 2022
Saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat), one of the critical soil hydraulic properties, is used to model many soil hydrological processes. Measurement of Ksat on a routine basis is a labor-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive process.

Spatial Variability and Geostatistical Prediction of Some Soil Hydraulic Coefficients of a Calcareous Soil

open access: yesمجله آب و خاک, 2017
Introduction: Saturated hydraulic conductivity and the other hydraulic properties of soils are essential vital soil attributes that play role in the modeling of hydrological phenomena, designing irrigation-drainage systems, transportation of salts and ...

Variable cross-sectional pore model to describe hydraulic conductivity and water retention behaviors of geotechnical materials

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
To investigate the contribution of their non-uniform cross-section to hydraulic conductivity and water retention behaviours for geotechnical materials, the pores can be simplified as variable cross-sectional assembly of cylindrical macro-pores with pore ...

A Capillary Model for Predicting Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Ion-Adsorption Rare Earth Ore Based on Improved Kozeny–Carman Equation

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
During the in-situ leaching process of ion-adsorption rare earth ore, the seepage velocity of the leaching solution is one of the core problems in studying the leaching efficiency.

Determining the Porosity and Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Binary Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Gravels and coarse sands make up significant portions of some environmentally important sediments, while the hydraulic properties of the sediments are typically obtained in the laboratory using only the fine fraction (e.g.,

Test of the Rosetta Pedotransfer Function for Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity

open access: yesOpen Journal of Soil Science, 2012
Simulation models are tools that can be used to explore, for example, effects of cultural practices on soil erosion and irrigation on crop yield. However, often these models require many soil related input data of which the saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) is one of the most important ones.

Controls on Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity in a Degrading Permafrost Peatland Complex [PDF]

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2023
AbstractPermafrost peatlands are vulnerable to rapid structural changes under climatic warming, including vertical collapse. Peatland water budgets, and therefore peat hydraulic properties, are important determinants of vegetation and carbon fluxes. Measurements of hydraulic properties exist for only a limited number of permafrost peatland locations ...
