Entrapped air can greatly affect the hydraulic conductivity at or near saturation. In this study, we measured the hydraulic conductivity and volume of entrapped air in a quasi‐saturated soil. Two soils, a Masa sandy loam soil from weathered granite rock and a TUAT light clay andisol from volcanic ash, were used.

Automation of the measurement of time record in determining the hydraulic conductivity of saturated soil [PDF]
The objective of this study was to automate the acquisition of water travel time, as well as the computation of hydraulic conductivity of saturated soil by the falling head method, using water sensors and the Arduino platform. To automate the measurement

Variability of saturated hydraulic conductivities in the agriculturallycultivated soils [PDF]
The knowledge of the moisture conditions in a variably saturated zone of soil and their management is one of the main possibilities that allow the agronomists to raise significantly the fertility of soils. A progressive scientific method for describing the moisture conditions in a variably saturated zone uses a numerical simulation on a mathematical ...

A Comparison and Validation of Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity Models [PDF]
Saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) is fundamental to shallow groundwater processes. There is an ongoing need for observed and model validated Ksat values. A study was initiated in a representative catchment of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed in the Northeast USA, to collect observed Ksat and validate five Ksat pedotransfer functions.

Saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) of the soil is a key variable in the water cycle. For the humid tropics, information about spatial scales of Ks and their relation to soil types deduced from soil map units is of interest, as soil maps are often the ...

HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY OF ESSENTIALLY SATURATED PEAT [PDF]
The Savannah River National Laboratory measured the hydraulic conductivity of peat samples using method ASTM D4511-00. Four samples of peat were packed into 73mm diameter plastic tubes and saturated from the bottom up with water. The columns were packed with Premier ProMoss III TBK peat to a dry density of approximately 0.16 gm/cc (10 lb/ft3).

Assessing Water Infiltration and Soil Water Repellency in Brazilian Atlantic Forest Soils
This study presents the results of the soil hydraulic characterization performed under three land covers, namely pasture, 9-year-old restored forest, and remnant forest, in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
