Influence of Degree of Saturation in the Electric Resistivity–Hydraulic Conductivity Relationship [PDF]
The relationship between aquifer hydraulic conductivity and aquifer resistivity, either measured on the ground surface by vertical electrical sounding (VES) or from resistivity logs, or measured in core samples have been published for different types of aquifers in different locations.

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

This work reports a thermally safe, photothermally reprogrammable magnetic soft robot with its reprogramming temperature tuned to ∼39.5°C for biocompatibility. It achieves multimodal locomotion (max speed of 1.8 BL/s) and integrates liquid‐metal capacitive sensing to monitor self‐motion and detect environmental changes in simulated gastric environments,

Effect of soybean roots and a plough pan on the movement of soil water along a profile during rain
The movement of water into soil is the primary driving force in nutrient transport for crops, and the laws governing this movement can be affected by crop roots and plough pans.

Prediction of biopore- and matrix-dominated flow from X-ray CT-derived macropore network characteristics [PDF]
Prediction and modeling of localized flow processes in macropores is of crucial importance for sustaining both soil and water quality. However, currently there are no reliable means to predict preferential flow due to its inherently large spatial ...

Interacting Parallel Fluidic Hysterons
The parallel coupling of fluidic hysterons is introduced, establishing advanced functionalities in inflatable soft systems. A pressure–volume framework reveals how preset volumes Δv∗${\Delta }v^*$ tune nonlinear interactions between hysterons and actuation sequences without changing architecture. Experiments validate the predictions, opening new routes

Conventional single‐gradient freeze‐casting typically produces unidirectional porous architectures with limited transverse connectivity. The Sequential Hybridization by Infiltration and Freeze‐casting Technique (SHIFT) addresses this constraint by integrating secondary aligned structures within a preformed primary scaffold.

Development of Pedotransfer Functions for Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity
The purpose of the study was to develop pedotransfer functions for determining saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks). Pedotransfer functions (PTFs) for predicting soil physical properties used in determining saturated hydraulic conductivity, based on moisture retention characteristics, were developed.

Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity and Textural Heterogeneity of Soils [PDF]
Abstract. Saturated hydraulic conductivity Ksat is an important soil parameter that highly depends on soil's particle size distribution (PSD). The nature of this dependency is explored in this work in two ways, (1) by using the Information Entropy as a heterogeneity parameter of the PSD and (2) using descriptions of PSD in forms of textural triplets ...

Efficient Adsorption‐Based Direct Air Capture Via Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Architectures
Architected triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) contactors reshape direct air capture by replacing straight‐channel diffusion limits with convection‐enhanced CO2 transport. Chaotic advection thins boundary layers and exposes fast adsorption sites, enabling 70%–75% more fast sites, 114% higher productivity, and 51.8% lower energy consumption than ...
