Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Modification of Green-Ampt model based on the stratification hypothesis
A modification of Green-Ampt model is proposed based on the stratification hypothesis, which dynamically divided the soil column is into saturated layer, transient layer and dry layer. The model uses the concept of an equivalent hydraulic conductivity in ...

Saturated hydraulic conductivity values of some forest soils of Ghana determined by a simple method
A simple falling-head method is presented for the laboratory determination of saturated hydraulic conductivity of some forest soils of Ghana. Using the procedure, it was found that saturated hydraulic conductivity was positively and negatively correlated

This work reports a thermally safe, photothermally reprogrammable magnetic soft robot with its reprogramming temperature tuned to ∼39.5°C for biocompatibility. It achieves multimodal locomotion (max speed of 1.8 BL/s) and integrates liquid‐metal capacitive sensing to monitor self‐motion and detect environmental changes in simulated gastric environments,

Interacting Parallel Fluidic Hysterons
The parallel coupling of fluidic hysterons is introduced, establishing advanced functionalities in inflatable soft systems. A pressure–volume framework reveals how preset volumes Δv∗${\Delta }v^*$ tune nonlinear interactions between hysterons and actuation sequences without changing architecture. Experiments validate the predictions, opening new routes

New Standards for Probabilistic Fitting of Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity
The KSTAT Standard Committee of the Environmental Water Resources Institute (EWRI) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) initiated activities in year 2005. Over the last two years, the KSTAT Committee has produced two preliminary standard-guidance documents expected to be published by ASCE following public review. This paper summarizes the

Influence of Degree of Saturation in the Electric Resistivity–Hydraulic Conductivity Relationship [PDF]
The relationship between aquifer hydraulic conductivity and aquifer resistivity, either measured on the ground surface by vertical electrical sounding (VES) or from resistivity logs, or measured in core samples have been published for different types of aquifers in different locations.

Soil texture governs the influence of different microplastics on soil hydraulic properties
Adequate water availability in soil is crucial for optimal plant growth. However, even small amounts of microplastics (MPs) can disrupt the soil pore structure, impacting water retention and hydraulic conductivity, and consequently plant‐available water.
