Environmental Sustainability of Soybean Production in the Democratic Republic of Congo: Cases of Production Systems in the South‐Kivu and Kasaï‐Lomami Provinces

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 4, December 2026.
Small versus large scale soybean production systems' footprints. ABSTRACT Soybean is increasingly grown in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), produced mainly in small‐scale systems and supplied locally for human consumption. Prospects of large‐scale expansion and intensification, with potential environmental drawbacks, loom and call for a ...

Which One Tastes Better? Testing Distinct Baits to Evaluate Fruit‐Feeding Butterfly Assemblages (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) in a Subtropical Region

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 4, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Standardised sampling protocols are essential for improving biodiversity assessments, particularly for indicator groups such as fruit‐feeding butterflies. Although fermented banana is the most widely used bait in tropical regions, rotten fish is the best bait for catching fruit‐feeding butterflies in high‐altitude sites.

Present and Future Distribution of Apochloa molinioides and Trichanthecium wettsteinii in the Brazilian Campos Rupestres: Ecological Modeling for Climate‐Smart Conservation

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐elevation ecosystems are among the most sensitive to climate change, responding more rapidly than low‐elevation environments. However, few studies have shown the effects of climate change on grass species in these environments. Among them, Apochloa molinioides and Trichanthecium wettsteinii (Poaceae) are notable for occurring in high ...

CO2 Fertilisation of Growth in Wild C4 Grasses may be Amplified by Upregulated Photosynthesis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 11, Page 8870-8882, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Rising atmospheric CO2 is expected to have limited direct effects on C4 photosynthesis because the carbon‐concentrating mechanism maintains near‐saturating CO2 at Rubisco. Consequently, growth responses of C4 plants to elevated CO2 (eCO2) are generally attributed to indirect improvements in plant water relations.
