Interferometric investigation of SAW devices
1996 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings, 2002A Michelson laser interferometer is constructed for investigating surface acoustic waves in SAW devices. The interferometer can detect transversal surface vibrations whose amplitude is on the order of an Angstrom. The frequency bandwidth extends to 1 GHz.

SAW device modeling including velocity dispersion based on ZnO/diamond/Si layered structures
Surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter properties of ZnO/Diamond/Si structures are calculated including velocity dispersion. The conventional SAW device modeling has previously been developed for bulk substrates.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SAW DEVICES BY SIMULATION
International Journal of Modelling and Simulation, 2004AbstractSurface acoustic wave (SAW) devices have been used since the early 1990s as critical components in many radio frequency (RF) transmitters and receivers due to their small size, efficient operation, and excellent performance characteristics. In today’s wireless applications, the number of passive SAW components used is on the increase.

SAW characteristics in a ZnO/diamond/Si structure were investigated by theoretical calculations and experiments using poly-crystalline diamond films. It was found that the 1st mode in the ZnO/IDT/diamond/Si structure has the velocity of 10,500 m/s and K/sup 2/ value of 1.5%, and the 2nd mode in the IDT/ZnO/diamond/Si structure has the velocity of 11 ...

SAW devices for consumer communication applications
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 1993An overview of surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter techniques available for different applications is given. Techniques for TV IF applications are outlined, and typical structures are presented. This is followed by a discussion of applications for SAW resonators.

Piezoelectric AlN film for SAW devices applications
1993 Proceedings IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1993Polycrystalline AlN films with the c-axis oriented normal to the substrate surface, were deposited by RF reactive diode magnetron sputtering on fused quartz, silicon and sapphire. The films were characterized as to their morphology, optic and acoustic characteristics.

Effect of humidity on SAW devices
1997 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium Proceedings. An International Symposium (Cat. No.97CH36118), 2002Adsorption of water vapors on single crystal and polycrystalline substrates is analyzed using the propagation of surface acoustic waves as an experimental tool. The perturbation in the SAW velocity (/spl Delta/v/v/sub 0/), the number N of adsorbed species as well as the changes in the density /spl Delta//spl rho///spl rho/ and in the elastic moduli ...
