Local global SAW sensors for turbulence

open access: yesProceedings., IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1990
A new surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor is developed through theoretical and experimental investigation to detect the surface forces (wall pressure and wall friction) and the direction of the turbulent flow as a function of position and time on the structure.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Development of a Magnetostrictive FeNi Coated Surface Acoustic Wave Current Sensor

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
A magnetostrictive FeNi-coated surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based current sensor was proposed in this work. The weak remanence and hysteresis effect of the FeNi itself contributes to suppress the asymmetry in sensor response at increasing and decreasing ...

ATR-FTIR Spectroscopic Analysis of Sorption of Aqueous Analytes into Polymer Coatings Used with Guided SH-SAW Sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Attenuated total internal reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy was used for the investigation of sorption of aqueous solutions of analytes into polymer coatings. A series of simple model polymers, such as poly(dimethylsiloxane),

A ZnO nanorod based 64° YX LiNbO3 surface acoustic wave CO sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorod based surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensor has been developed. ZnO nanorods were deposited onto a layered ZnO/64deg YX LiNbO3 substrate using a liquid solution method.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Ultra-High Frequency Surface Acoustic Wave Sensors for Temperature Detection

open access: yesMicromachines
Highly sensitive surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors have recently been recognized as a promising tool for various industrial and medical applications. However, existing SAW sensors generally suffer from a complex design, large size, and poor robustness.

An Improved Performance Frequency Estimation Algorithm for Passive Wireless SAW Resonant Sensors

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Passive wireless surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonant sensors are suitable for applications in harsh environments. The traditional SAW resonant sensor system requires, however, Fourier transformation (FT) which has a resolution restriction and decreases ...

Analysis of the Detection of Organophosphate Pesticides in Aqueous Solutions Using Hydrogen-Bond Acidic Coating on SH-SAW Devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The work presented in this paper focuses on the synthesis and characterization of a hybrid organic/inorganic chemically sensitive layer for rapid detection and analysis of OPs in aqueous solutions using SH-SAW devices.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
