Tough and Fast Thermoresponsive Hydrogel Soft Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work develops tough, fast‐responding thermoresponsive double‐network hydrogels that combine excellent mechanical strength with rapid actuation. Composed of PNIPAm and ether‐based polyurethane, the hydrogels achieve ≈8 MPa compressive stress and ≈30% contractile stroke within 2 min at 50 °C, enabling temperature‐responsive fluid flow switching for ...

Nanofabrication of hybrid nanomaterials: Macroscopically aligned nanoparticles pattern via directed self‐assembly of block copolymers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 140, Issue 5, February 5, 2023., 2023
Abstract Periodic hybrid nanostructured materials based on aligned inorganic nanoparticles within self‐assembled copolymer matrixes aimed to harness the collective properties of generated functional nanomaterials. The nanoparticles are desirable for their useful magnetic, optical, catalytic, and electronic properties owed to the quantum confinement ...

Identification of large channels in cationic PEGylated cubosome nanoparticles by synchrotron radiation SAXS and Cryo-TEM imaging.

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2015
Extra-large nanochannel formation in the internal structure of cationic cubosome nanoparticles results from the interplay between charge repulsion and steric stabilization of the lipid membrane interfaces and is evidenced by cryogenic transmission ...

Effective Molecular Alignment of Semiconducting Polymer and Its Application to Photopatterned Stretchable Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Excellent mobility is achieved in intrinsically stretchable, fine‐patterned organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) through well‐aligned molecular arrangements. Abstract Intrinsically stretchable organic transistors are promising solutions for realizing stretchable electronic systems, such as skin‐like wearables and next‐generation displays. Nevertheless,

Elucidating and Biomimicking the Coloration Mechanisms Responsible for the Vibrant Blue Hues of the Common Kingfisher

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals why the back feathers of a common kingfisher show various non‐iridescent blueish structural colors by analyzing the internal structures of the feathers. It demonstrates how structural differences lead to the different optical interactions, thereby producing different colors.

Cation‐Engineered Post‐Treatment for Blue Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a cation‐engineered post‐treatment strategy for high‐performance mixed‐halide blue PeLEDs. By investigating the role of 4‐fluorophenylethylammonium (FPEA+) versus conventional phenylethylammonium (PEA+) organic cations in post‐treatment agents, it demonstrates that FPEA+ enables superior preservation of the 3D perovskite structure ...

Opportunities in Therapeutic mRNA Stabilization: Sequence, Structure, Adjuvants and Vectors

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Current mRNA lipid nanoparticles rely on cold storage, which increases the cost and reduces access to the vaccines. As mRNA expands to other clinical opportunities, better methods to stabilize the medicines during shipping, storage, and delivery are needed.

Photoinduced bidirectional mesophase transition in vesicles containing azobenzene amphiphiles

open access: yesIUCrJ
The functionality and efficiency of proteins within a biological membrane are highly dependent on both the membrane lipid composition and the physiochemical properties of the solution.
