Renormalization for a Scalar Field in an External Scalar Potential [PDF]
The Pauli–Villars regularization procedure confirms and sharpens the conclusions reached previously by covariant point splitting. The divergences in the stress tensor of a quantized scalar field interacting with a static scalar potential are isolated into a three-parameter local, covariant functional of the background potential.

We discuss the extension of a version of quaternion quantum mechanics to field theory and in particular to the simplest example, the free scalar field. A previous difficulty with the conservation of four-momentum for the "anomalous" bosonic particles is resolved.

Scalar field inhomogeneous cosmologies [PDF]
Some exact solutions for the Einstein field equations corresponding to inhomogeneous G2 cosmologies with an exponential-potential scalar field, which generalize solutions obtained previously, are considered. Several particular cases are studied and the properties related to generalized inflation and asymptotic behavior of the models are discussed.

A Scalar Representation of Electromagnetic Fields
Proceedings of the Physical Society. Section A, 1953It is shown that the scalar representation of electromagnetic fields introduced in an earlier paper leads to a new model for energy transport. The energy may be considered to be carried by two mutually incoherent scalar waves, each of which arises from contributions of circularly polarized components of the same helicity.
