Nonlocal Conduction in a Metawire

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A 1D metawire composed of twisted copper wires is designed and realized. This metamaterial exhibits pronounced effects of nonlocal electric conduction according to Ohm's law. The current at one location not only depends on the electric field at that location but also on other locations.

Black holes with surrounding matter in scalar-tensor theories

open access: yes, 2013
We uncover two mechanisms that can render Kerr black holes unstable in scalar-tensor gravity, both associated to the presence of matter in the vicinity of the black hole and the fact that this introduces an effective mass for the scalar.

Scalar-vector bootstrap [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2016
We work out all of the details required for implementation of the conformal bootstrap program applied to the four-point function of two scalars and two vectors in an abstract conformal field theory in arbitrary dimension. This includes a review of which tensor structures make appearances, a construction of the projectors onto the required mixed ...

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Connectedness and Path Connectedness of Weak Efficient Solution Sets of Vector Optimization Problems via Nonlinear Scalarization Methods

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
The connectedness and path connectedness of the solution sets to vector optimization problems is an important and interesting study in optimization theories and applications.

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Approximate proper solutions in vector optimization with variable ordering structure [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Optimization
In this paper, we study approximate proper efficient (nondominated and minimal) solutions of vector optimization problems with variable ordering structures (VOSs). In vector optimization with VOS, the partial order-ing cone depends on the elements of the

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Topological aspects in vector optimization problems

open access: yesVìsnik Dnìpropetrovsʹkogo Unìversitetu: Serìâ Modelûvannâ, 2009
In this paper, we study vector optimization problems in partially ordered Banach spaces. We suppose that an objective mapping possesses a weakened property of lower semicontinuity and make no assumptions on the interior of the ordering cone.

Spontaneous violation of the energy conditions

open access: yes, 2004
A decade ago, it was shown that a wide class of scalar-tensor theories can pass very restrictive weak field tests of gravity and yet exhibit non-perturbative strong field deviations away from General Relativity.
