Tachyonic instability and spontaneous scalarization in parameterized Schwarzschild-like black holes

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study the phenomenon of spontaneous scalarization in parameterized Schwarzschild-like black holes. Two metrics are considered, the Konoplya–Zhidenko metric and the Johannsen–Psaltis metric.

Connectedness and Path Connectedness of Weak Efficient Solution Sets of Vector Optimization Problems via Nonlinear Scalarization Methods

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
The connectedness and path connectedness of the solution sets to vector optimization problems is an important and interesting study in optimization theories and applications.

Well-posedness in vector optimization and scalarization results [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we give a survey on well-posedness notions of Tykhonov's type for vector optimization problems and the links between them with respect to the classification proposed by Miglierina, Molho and Rocca in [33].

Spontaneous scalarization

open access: yes
Scalarization is a mechanism that endows strongly self-gravitating bodies, such as neutron stars and black holes, with a scalar field configuration. Itresembles a phase transition in that the scalar configuration only appears whena certain quantity that ...

Scalarization of Set-Valued Optimization Problems in Normed Spaces

open access: yes, 2015
This work focuses on scalarization processes for nonconvex set-valued optimization problems whose solutions are defined by the socalled l-type less order relation, the final space is normed and the ordering cone is not necessarily solid.

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Charged qOS-extremal black hole and its scalarization by entropy function approach

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We investigate scalarization of charged quantum Oppenheimer–Snyder extremal (cqOSe)-black hole described by mass M, quantum parameter $$\alpha $$ α and magnetic charge P in the Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet-scalar theory with a nonlinear electrodynamics term ...

Spin-Charge-Induced Scalarization of Kerr–Newman Black Holes in the Einstein–Maxwell-Scalar Theory with Scalar Potential

open access: yesUniverse
We investigate the spin-charge-induced scalarization of Kerr–Newman (KN) black holes in the Einstein–Maxwell-scalar (EMS) theory with a scalar potential and positive coupling parameter.

Naturally light scalars [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1996
I argue that in certain chiral gauge theories composite scalars associated with chiral symmetry breaking can be light (i.e. lighter than naive scaling from QCD would suggest) without any fine-tuning. These scalars will be even lighter in chiral gauge theories that produce chiral symmetry breaking without confinement.

Spin-Charge induced spontaneous scalarization of Kerr-Newman black holes

open access: yes, 2022
We investigate the tachyonic instability of Kerr-Newman (KN) black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar (EMS) theory with a positive coupling parameter $\alpha$. This corresponds to exploring the onset of spontaneous scalarization for KN black holes. For
