Scale efficient organizations

[Proceedings] 1992 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2003
The authors suggest that scale efficiency in an organization is the result of four constituents: autonomous agents, parallel activity, asynchronous communications, and certain consensus-producing mechanisms. The first three of these constituents are reasonably easy to obtain using existing computer technologies.

Efficient large-scale single-pixel imaging

Optics Letters, 2022
The speed of single-pixel imaging (SPI) is tied to its resolution, which is positively related to the number of modulation times. Therefore, efficient large-scale SPI is a serious challenge that impedes its wide applications. In this work, we report a novel, to the best of our knowledge, sparse SPI scheme and corresponding reconstruction algorithm to ...

Scale Elasticity versus Scale Efficiency in Banking

Southern Economic Journal, 1995
In the early bank cost literature many of the studies found scale elasticities significantly different from unity. As a result, the authors suggested that changes in industry structure could produce cost savings through increased efficiency. Recent bank cost studies improved upon previous methodologies by utilizing flexible functional forms, accounting

Scaling‐up distillation efficiencies

AIChE Journal, 1986
AbstractThis paper describes a study of the possibility of using point efficiencies, measured in a small laboratory column, in the scale‐up of distillation efficiencies. The conditions on a large rectangular tray were closely duplicated in a small glass Oldershaw column with one sieve tray having similar hole size and percent free area.

Scale Efficiency and Productivity Change

Journal of Productivity Analysis, 2001
Thefirst objective of this paper is to develop a generic measureof scale efficiency for a multiple-input multiple-output firm, using basic principles of modern production theory. The secondobjective is to combine measures of technological change, technicalefficiency change, and scale efficiency change into an encompassing(primal) measure of productivity

Measures of Scale Efficiency

1985
From a private perspective, a firm facing a given technology and fixed output and input prices can do no better than to select an input-output vector that yields maximum profit. Indeed in section 5.4, an input-output vector (x, u) ∈ ПM(r, p) is termed overall graph efficient, i.e., the input-output vector is uncongested, technically efficient and ...

Technical Efficiency and Scale Efficiency of District Hospitals

Journal of Health Management, 2010
The Government of Tamil Nadu state in India has been implementing various health sector reforms (for example, expansion and upgradation of public health facilities, provision of round the clock services in selected primary health centres and continuous availability of quality medicines decentralisation) in a bid to improve efficiency in health care ...

Efficient pattern matching with scaling

Journal of Algorithms, 1992
Summary: The problem of pattern matching with scaling is defined. The input for the two-dimensional version of the problem consists of an \(n\times n\) ``text'' matrix and an \(m\times m\) ``pattern'' matrix. We want to find all occurrences of the pattern in the text, scaled to all natural multiples.

Time Efficiency of Preference Scaling Methods

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1965
The time required by judges to complete the recording of their preferences among a series of items was measured in several situations. In an experiment concerning the judgment of the relative value of six weapon system criteria, time was measured on the recording of judgments by the following methods: ranking, rating, three versions of paired ...

Efficient multiple scale kernel classifiers

2016 IEEE International Conference on Big Data (Big Data), 2016
While kernel methods using a single Gaussian kernel have proven to be very successful for nonlinear classification, in case of learning problems with a more complex underlying structure it is often desirable to use a linear combination of kernels with different widths.
