The Applications of Mixtures of Normal Distributions in Empirical Finance: A Selected Survey [PDF]
This paper provides a selected review of the recent developments and applications of mixtures of normal (MN) distribution models in empirical finance. Once attractive property of the MN model is that it is flexible enough to accommodate various shapes of

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Rates of convergence for the posterior distributions of mixtures of Betas and adaptive nonparametric estimation of the density. [PDF]
In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic properties of nonparametric Bayesian mixtures of Betas for estimating a smooth density on [0, 1]. We consider a parametrization of Beta distributions in terms of mean and scale parameters and construct a ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Finite mixtures of multivariate scale-shape mixtures of skew-normal distributions
Finite mixtures of multivariate skew distributions have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their flexibility and robustness in modeling heterogeneity, asymmetry and leptokurticness of the data. This paper introduces a novel finite mixture

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

On Bayesian inference with conjugate priors for scale mixtures of normal distributions
Bayesian inference is considered for the multivariate regression model with distribution of the random responses belonging to the multivariate scale mixtures of normal distributions.

Parsimonious Mixtures of Matrix-Variate Shifted Exponential Normal Distributions
Finite mixtures of matrix-variate distributions constitute a powerful model-based clustering device. One serious issue of these models is the potentially high number of parameters to be estimated.
