Approximate skew normal distribution
We propose a new approximate skew normal distribution, it is easy to calculate, convenient, mathematically tractable and is in a closed form. It is particularly useful when the probability density function occurs in an expression to be used for further ...

The Skew-Normal Distribution in SPC
Modeling real data sets, even when we have some potential (as)symmetric models for the underlying data distribution, is always a very difficult task due to some uncontrollable perturbation factors.

On the Unification of Families of Skew-normal Distributions
Abstract. The distribution theory literature connected to the multivariate skew‐normal distribution has grown rapidly in recent years, and a number of extensions and alternative formulations have been put forward. Presently there are various coexisting proposals, similar but not identical, and with rather unclear connections.

A New Class of Skew-Normal Distributions
We introduce a new family of asymmetric normal distributions that contains Azzalini's skew-normal (SN) distribution as a special case. We study the main properties of this new family, showing in particular that it may be generated via mixtures on the SN asymmetry parameter when the mixing distribution is normal.

Statistical applications of the multivariate skew normal distribution
Summary Azzalini and Dalla Valle have recently discussed the multivariate skew normal distribution which extends the class of normal distributions by the addition of a shape parameter. The first part of the present paper examines further probabilistic properties of the distribution, with special emphasis on aspects of statistical ...

Properties and Applications of a New Family of Skew Distributions
We introduce two families of continuous distribution functions with not-necessarily symmetric densities, which contain a parent distribution as a special case.

The Extended Half-Skew Normal Distribution
A new class of densities for modelling non-negative data, which is based on the skew-symmetric family of distributions proposed by Azzalini is introduced. We focus on the model generated by the skew-normal distribution, called Extended Half Skew-Normal ...

An Extension of the Truncated-Exponential Skew- Normal Distribution
In the paper, we present an extension of the truncated-exponential skew-normal (TESN) distribution. This distribution is defined as the quotient of two independent random variables whose distributions are the TESN distribution and the beta distribution ...
