Default priors for density estimation with mixture models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The infinite mixture of normals model has become a popular method for density estimation problems. This paper proposes an alternative hierarchical model that leads to hyperparameters that can be interpreted as the location, scale and smoothness of the ...

Mixtures of g-priors for Bayesian model averaging with economic applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We examine the issue of variable selection in linear regression modeling, where we have a potentially large amount of possible covariates and economic theory offers insufficient guidance on how to select the ap- propriate subset.

Multivariate location-scale mixtures of normals and mean-variance-skewness portfolio allocation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We show that the distribution of any portfolio whose components jointly follow a location-scale mixture of normals can be characterised solely by its mean, variance and skewness.

Finite mixture modeling using shape mixtures of the skew scale mixtures of normal distributions

open access: yesCommunications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2019
This paper introduces the shape mixtures of the skew scale mixtures of normal distribution which are contained additional shape parameters to regulate skewness and kurtosis. We present a finite mixture model for this new family of distributions, which is a novel model-based tool for clustering heterogeneous data in the presence of skewed and heavy ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Inference in two-piece location-scale models with Jeffreys priors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper addresses the use of Jeffreys priors in the context of univariate threeparameter location-scale models, where skewness is introduced by differing scale parameters either side of the location.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
