Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Feature point extraction using scale-space representation [PDF]

open access: yes
An algorithm for feature point extraction is presented. It is based on a scale-space representation of the image as well as a system for tracking across scales.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Notion of uncertainty space scale and its application

open access: yesSistemnì Doslìdženâ ta Informacìjnì Tehnologìï, 2019
A new notion of uncertainty space scale is introduced which makes it possible: 1) to find something in common among all the well-known kinds of averages (in particular to separate the subclass of averaging uncertainty spaces); 2) to construct even ...

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Intelligent Tutoring Systems for Adult Learning in STEM Disciplines

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) are reshaping adult learning in STEM by providing adaptive, data‐driven instruction across classrooms, workplaces, and informal environments. In the context of ITS, this article compares generative AI, which creates personalized explanations and practice materials, with explainable AI, which focuses on ...

Detection of Facial Features in Scale-Space

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2007
This paper presents a new approach to the detection of facial features. A scale adapted Harris Corner detector is used to find interest points in scale-space. These points are described by the SIFT descriptor. Thus invariance with respect to image scale,
