The scale transformation in physics [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Physics, 1963
Abstract Some criteria are established to test whether invariance under a continuous transformation will lead to a conservation law. The scale transformation is examined as a special case, and shown not only to lead to no general conservation law, but also in fact to be of a trivial nature.

Effect of Feedstock Variability, Feedstock Blends, and Pretreatment Conditions on Sugar Yield and Production Costs

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
Mass production of sustainable biofuels replacing fossil fuels will significantly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. However, biomass feedstock variability, availability, and affordability pose significant risks for the sustainable production of ...

Scaling Vision Transformers

open access: yes2022 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2022
Attention-based neural networks such as the Vision Transformer (ViT) have recently attained state-of-the-art results on many computer vision benchmarks. Scale is a primary ingredient in attaining excellent results, therefore, understanding a model's scaling properties is a key to designing future generations effectively.

Using Incremental Changes to Convert Lignocellulosic Feedstocks to Cellulosic Ethanol

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
One billion tons of biomass feedstocks have been identified for the production of renewable biofuels and biochemicals. This is one of the key carbon feedstocks to supply energy to the transportation sector for light duty, heavy duty and aviation fuels ...

Regional Monitoring of Leaf ChlorophyII Content of Summer Maize by Integrating Multi-Source Remote Sensing Data

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
This study addresses the problem of restricted ability for large-scale monitoring due to the limited cruising time of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) by identifying an optimal leaf ChlorophyII content (LCC) inversion machine learning model at different ...

Enabling Production of Algal Biofuels by Techno-Economic Optimization of Co-Product Suites

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemical Engineering, 2022
Recent techno-economic analysis (TEA) has underscored that for algal biofuels to be cost competitive with petroleum fuels, co-products are necessary to offset the cost of fuel production.

Scale space Radon transform [PDF]

open access: yesIET Image Processing, 2021
Abstract An extension of Radon transform by using a measure function capturing the user need is proposed. The new transform, called scale space Radon transform, is devoted to the case where the embedded shape in the image is not filiform.
