Inpatient Exposure, Confidence, and Knowledge in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology: Evaluating General Pediatric Residents During 2025 ACGME Curriculum Change

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background General pediatricians often evaluate hematologic and oncologic presentations before subspecialty consultation, yet the 2025 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) pediatric requirements reduce inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology (PHO) time, raising questions about resident readiness.

The Academic Functioning Scale: validity and reliability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education
The self-assessment of academic functioning is important as it reflects behaviors associated with academic success. Importantly, assessment of academic functioning can inform changes to researchers, educational practitioners, and policymakers. Two studies were conducted to test the validity and reliability of the Academic Functioning Scale (AFS).

A Computational Approach for Modeling the Allele Frequency Spectrum of Populations with Arbitrarily Varying Size

open access: yesGenomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics, 2019
The allele frequency spectrum (AFS), or site frequency spectrum, is commonly used to summarize the genomic polymorphism pattern of a sample, which is informative for inferring population history and detecting natural selection.

Phase Angle as an Early Functional Biomarker of Cancer‐Related Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low‐and middle‐income countries. Cancer treatment may impair nutritional status, alter body composition, and exacerbate cancer‐related fatigue (CRF).

Perspective functions with nonlinear scaling

open access: yesCommunications in Contemporary Mathematics
The classical perspective of a function is a construction which transforms a convex function into one that is jointly convex with respect to an auxiliary scaling variable. Motivated by applications in several areas of applied analysis, we investigate an extension of this construct in which the scaling variable is replaced by a nonlinear term.

Animal‐Assisted Activities With Therapy Dogs in Pediatric Oncology: A Multicenter Survey of the Current Status, Implementation, and Challenges in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Animal‐assisted activities (AAAs) with therapy dogs have shown positive effects on patient well‐being and quality of life in various areas of medicine, including pediatric oncology. However, research on this topic is limited. The aim of this study is to present the current status of AAA in pediatric oncology in Germany, Austria, and

Scaling laws in jet classification

open access: yesSciPost Physics Core
We demonstrate the emergence of scaling laws in the benchmark top versus QCD jet classification problem in collider physics. Six distinct physically-motivated classifiers exhibit power-law scaling of the binary cross-entropy test loss as a function of ...
