Tributary‐scale oyster reef restoration in Harris Creek, Maryland: lessons from a decade of planning, implementing, and monitoring

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction In response to the decline of eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) populations in Chesapeake Bay, a large‐scale restoration initiative was launched in Harris Creek, Maryland, in 2011. This effort marked a shift from fragmented projects toward a coordinated, sanctuary‐based approach to oyster restoration.

Elastic-contact-based tool-path planning for free-form surface in belt grinding

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
As for the fact that the majority of current researches take the technology of tool-path planning for free-form surface only as a geometrical problem, which is not suitable for belt grinding because of the elastic deformation of the grinding belt that ...

Utopia Remembers: The Soviet Past in the Imagined Communist Future

open access: yesThe Russian Review, EarlyView.
Abstract After a twenty‐five‐year hiatus, the reappearance of utopian literature in 1957 prompted Soviet literary watchdogs to corral the subgenre into an ideologically‐acceptable mold. A key requirement was for future generations to be depicted as reverently commemorating the past.

An Analysis of Hurricane Eyewall Ice Using a Novel Lagrangian Trajectory and Growth Model

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Ice crystals in tropical cyclones (TCs) remain infrequently observed and difficult to model using Eulerian microphysics parameterizations. To better understand TC eyewall ice crystal processes, the Ice Crystal Trajectory Growth (ICTG) model, previously applied to an idealized squall line, was used to simulate Lagrangian ice crystal ...

Environmental and Protection Effects of Shark‐Companion Associations Across Three Ocean Basins

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Companion species frequently associate with large marine hosts, yet the ecological drivers of these relationships remain poorly understood. Using a global dataset of midwater BRUVS deployments, we modelled the presence and abundance of shark‐companion associations across seven shark species and three ocean basins.

Sperm cryopreservation in Zhikong scallop (Chlamys farreri): Effects of cryoprotectants, cooling, thawing and fertilization conditions

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
This study investigated the factors important to the development of a non-programmable sperm cryopreservation technique in Zhikong scallop (Chlamys farreri), including (1) cryoprotectant agents (CPAs); (2) cooling temperature [height above liquid ...

Rapid changes of the lava‐delta coastlines formed by the 2021 volcanic eruption on La Palma, Canary Islands

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
A new coastline formed during the 2021 eruption of La Palma quickly eroded, becoming crenellated and with pocket beaches, then retreated more gradually as resistant interiors of the lava were exposed. In contrast, a second thicker lava delta changed more gradually, highlighting the importance of lithology to coastal erosion.

Structural and Functional Characteristics of Animal and Plant‐Based Seafood Analogues: A Comparative Study of Squid, Snapper, Salmon, and Scallops

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2026.
Comparative analysis of the structural, thermal, and textural properties of four animal‐based seafood species – salmon, scallop, squid, and snapper and their commercially available plant‐based analogues. ABSTRACT This study compares the structural and functional properties of four animal‐based seafood species such as salmon, scallop, squid, and snapper,

Morphological and Morphometric Analysis of Animal Hair From 18th Century Burial Sites in Mazamet (Southwest France)

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 3, Page 500-511, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Morphological and morphometric analysis of archaeological animal hairs offers a nondestructive method to explore past clothing. We examined hair from two 18th‐century burial areas (SP03 and SP04) in Mazamet, France. SP03 specimens exhibited a continuous medulla, a low medullary index (0.2 ± 0.03) and cuticular features suggesting goat or ...
