Trilithium scandium bis(orthoborate) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
Single crystals of the title compound, Li(3)Sc(BO(3))(2), have been obtained by spontaneous nucleation from a high-temperature melt. The title compound adopts a framework structure and is composed of distorted [ScO(6)] octa-hedra, [LiO(4)] tetra-hedra, [LiO(4)] recta-ngles and isolated [BO(3)] triangles.

On the physical origin of the second solar spectrum of the Sc II line at 4247 A

open access: yes, 2009
The peculiar three-peak structure of the linear polarization profile shown in the second solar spectrum by the Ba II line at 4554 A has been interpreted as the result of the different contributions coming from the barium isotopes with and without ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Use of Ion-Exchange Resins to Adsorb Scandium from Titanium Industry’s Chloride Acidic Solution at Ambient Temperature

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Scandium metal has generated a lot of interest during the past years. This is due to the various crucial applications it has found ground in and the lack of production in countries outside China and Russia. Apart from rare earth ores, scandium is present

Effect of impurities on morphology and growth mode of (111) and (001) epitaxial-like ScN films

open access: yes, 2018
ScN material is an emerging semiconductor with an indirect bandgap. It has attracted attention for its thermoelectric properties, use as seed layers, and for alloys for piezoelectric application.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

QED calculation of the 2p1/2-2s and 2p3/2-2s transition energies and the ground-state hyperfine splitting in lithiumlike scandium

open access: yes, 2007
We present the most accurate up-to-date theoretical values of the {2p_{1/2}}-{2s} and {2p_{3/2}}-{2s} transition energies and the ground-state hyperfine splitting in ${\rm Sc}^{18+}$.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

β-sulfur-engineered biochar mitigates scandium toxicity in wheat: Impacts on growth characteristics, photosynthetic activity, and redox regulation

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Scandium (Sc) is acknowledged as a toxic substance that negatively impacts crop growth and physiological and biochemical metabolism. The main purpose of the present research was to examine the influence of β-Sulfur-engineered rice husk biochar (βS-MBC ...
