Solvation coordination compounds of scandium chloride from the dehydration of scandium chloride hexahydrate

Polyhedron, 2021
Abstract Attempts to dehydrate [Sc(H2O)6]3[Cl]•(H2O) using simple organic solvents led to the isolation of [ScCl3(THF)3] (1) from the addition of thionyl chloride (O = SCl2) to the hydrate, slurried in tetrahydrofuran (THF). Modification of 1 by a variety of solvents yielded the crystallographically characterized compounds: [ScCl3(MeCN)3]•MeCN (2 ...

Urinary Scandium as Predictor of Exposure: Effects of Scandium Chloride Hexahydrate on Renal Function in Rats

Biological Trace Element Research, 2009
Some of the rare earth elements such as Sc are believed to be non-toxic and, at present, are widely utilized for the replacement of toxic heavy metals in technological applications, but they are not entirely free of toxicity, with hidden potential health risks.

Scandium Chloride-Catalyzed Chemoselective Thioacetalization of Aldehydes

Synthesis, 2004
A wide variety of acyclic and cyclic dithioacetals can be prepared chemoselectively from the corresponding aldehydes by employing a catalytic amount of scandium chloride in acetonitrile at room temperature.

Stability constants of scandium(III) chloride complexes

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1964
Abstract Stepwise equilibria in aqueous solutions of scandium chloride have been investigated for chloride concentrations up to 0·64 M. Scandium-46 was employed in conjunction with a cation-exchange resin in the H + -form, and the ionic strength was maintained at 0·691 M with perchloric acid.
