The corrosion behavior of scandium alloyed Al 5052 in neutral sodium chloride solution

Corrosion Science, 2001
Alloying with scandium has a strong influence on the strengthening and weight saving characteristics of Al–2.5Mg alloys. Scandium addition (0.1–0.3 wt.%) to Al–2.5Mg alloys does not introduce any appreciable loss in their resistance to corrosion in 3.5 wt.% NaCl.

Pharmacology and Toxicology of Scandium Chloride

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1962
The pharmacological and toxicological properties of scandium chloride have been investigated. The intraperitoneal and oral LD50's were 755 mg./Kg. and 4 Gm./Kg., respectively. Studies of chronic toxicity showed no body weight changes occurred in any group except the male rats on a 1% dietary level.

Structural Properties of the Acidification Products of Scandium Hydroxy Chloride Hydrate

Inorganic Chemistry, 2015
The structural properties of a series of scandium inorganic acid derivatives were determined. The reaction of Sc(0) with concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid led to the isolation of [(H2O)5Sc(μ-OH)]24Cl·2H2O (1). Compound 1 was modified with a series of inorganic acids (i.e., HNO3, H3PO4, and H2SO4) at room temperature and found to form {[(H2O)4Sc(κ ...

Structure of concentrated aqueous solutions of scandium chloride

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2017
It is shown via X-ray diffraction that aqueous solutions of scandium chloride form ionic associates in a wide range of concentrations. It is established that the Sc3+ ion coordination number increases upon dilution to 8.2 at an unchanged Sc3+–OH2 distance of 0.215 nm. The second coordination sphere of the cation forms at an average distance of 0.420 nm.

Anion-exchange behaviour of scandium in chloride-thiocyanate media

Talanta, 1964
Abstract A method is described for the separation of scandium from rare earths and thorium by anion exchange. The method utilises the adsorption of a negatively-charged thiocyanato complex of scandium on the strongly-basic anion exchanger Dowex 1-X8 from a 2 M solution of ammonium thiocyanate in 0·5 M hydrochloric acid.

Vibrational spectra of anhydrous scandium(III) chloride and bromide and their complexes

Journal of the Chemical Society A: Inorganic, Physical, Theoretical, 1969
The far-i.r. spectra of anhydrous ScCl3 and ScBr3(and the Raman spectrum of the former) are reported. Four well defined pyridine complexes having 1 : 4 and 1 : 3 stoicheiometry were characterized. ScCl3,4py and ScBr3,4py have one loosely bound, non-co-ordinated pyridine molecule, [py3ScX3]py.

Scandium adsorption from sulfuric-chloride solutions with activated carbons

Izvestiya Vuzov. Tsvetnaya Metallurgiya (Universities' Proceedings Non-Ferrous Metallurgy), 2019
The study covers scandium adsorption in batch conditions by VSK, DAS and PFT activated carbon grades (Russia) of different origin (сoconut shell, аnthracite, thermoset waste, respectively) from sulfuric acid-chloride solutions (pH = 2) simulating the composition of the underground leaching solutions of polymetallic ores.
