Correlation between Surface Tension, Work of Adhesion in Liquid Metals/Ceramic Systems, and Acoustic Parameters

open access: yesУспехи физики металлов, 2018
In the paper, a correlation between acoustic velocities, elastic moduli, and densities, with surface tension, and work of adhesion of different liquid metals on a given ceramic is studied and demonstrated.

Acoustically Stimulated Charge Transport in Graphene Film

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
The process of acoustically stimulated charge transport in the graphene film on the surface of the YZ−cut of a LiNbO3 crystal was investigated. It was found that the dependence of the current in the graphene film on the frequency of the surface acoustic ...

Optical-resolution photoacoustic imaging through thick tissue with a thin capillary as a dual optical-in acoustic-out waveguide

open access: yes, 2015
We demonstrate the ability to guide high-frequency photoacoustic waves through thick tissue with a water-filled silica-capillary (150 \mu m inner diameter and 30 mm long).

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

NONLINEAR SCANNING ELECTRON ACOUSTIC MICROSCOPY

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1984
Nonlinear scanning electron acoustic microscopy is a special technique of acoustic microscopy which uses amplitudes and phases of higher harmonics, especially the second harmonic, of the sound wave originated by an electron beam modulated at a certain ground frequency.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of
