Venous thromboembolism: Detection by duplex scanning
The usefulness of transcranial Doppler monitoring in identifying emboli in the arterial circulation has been established. We attempted to extend this technique to identify embolism in the venous circulation and to note any changes in embolism rate with anticoagulation. From March to July 1993, 218 patients were evaluated by duplex scan for deep venous ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

AN AUTOMATED ROAD ROUGHNESS DETECTION FROM MOBILE LASER SCANNING DATA [PDF]
Rough roads influence the safety of the road users as accident rate increases with increasing unevenness of the road surface. Road roughness regions are required to be efficiently detected and located in order to ensure their maintenance.

An alternative scanning strategy to detect faces [PDF]
The sliding window approach is the most widely used technique to detect faces in an image. Usually a classifier is applied on a regular grid and to speed up the scanning, the grid spacing is increased, which increases the number of miss detections.

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Cycling with hemianopia to explore road user detection and scanning behaviour in virtual reality
Cyclists with homonymous hemianopia (HH) may face challenges in detecting road users, especially in unpredictable situations or with distractors. This study examined how HH affects detection, scanning behaviour, and the relation between detection and ...

Wide-Angle Beam-Scanning Antenna Array for Extending the Lateral Detection Range of GPR
This study presents a novel beam-scanning ground-penetrating radar (BS-GPR) system based on a wide-angle beam-scanning antenna array, aimed at extending the lateral detection range and improving the imaging fidelity without increasing the size of the ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
