Morphological Modifications in Osteoarthritis: A Scanning Electron Microscopy Study
The chondrocyte, the only cellular component of adult articular cartilage, plays a key role in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA). The evolution of this process is very slow: the first changes involve the cell-matrix morphofunctional unit known as ...

Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed FeCr(Si)N Stainless Steel
The alloying element Nitrogen enhances stainless steel strength, corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite. This study develops austenitic FeCr(Si)N steel production via powder metallurgy. Fe20Cr and Si3N4 are hot isostatically pressed, creating an austenitic microstructure.

A single-projection three-dimensional reconstruction algorithm for scanning transmission electron microscopy data [PDF]
Increasing interest in three-dimensional nanostructures adds impetus to electron microscopy techniques capable of imaging at or below the nanoscale in three dimensions. We present a reconstruction algorithm that takes as input a focal series of four-dimensional scanning transmission electron microscopy (4D-STEM) data.

This study explores geometry‐driven phase evolution in gyroid shell metamaterials made via laser powder bed fusion of 17‐4 precipitation hardened stainless steel. Locally hardened regions develop along the primary loading paths in the structure, which finite element analysis and geometric considerations link to enhanced gyroid strength.

Influence of surface relaxations on scanning probe microscopy images of the charge density wave material 2H-NbSe$_2$ [PDF]
Scanning tunneling microscopy is the method of choice for characterizing charge density waves by imaging the variation in atomic-scale contrast of the surface. Due to the measurement principle of scanning tunneling microscopy, the electronic and lattice degrees of freedom are convoluted, making it difficult to disentangle a structural displacement from

STM-induced surface aggregates on metals and oxidized silicon
We have observed an aggregation of carbon or carbon derivatives on platinum and natively oxidized silicon surfaces during STM measurements in ultra-high vacuum on solvent-cleaned samples previously structured by e-beam lithography.

The fabrication and post‐treatment via solvent annealing of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate‐based electrodes using spray deposition in a roll‐to‐roll setup are presented. The decrease in sheet resistance and its correlation with nanostructure and molecular structure in the electrodes as a function of the processing parameters is ...
