Scanning Electron Microscopy of the Phloem
2019In vascular plants, sugars are transported through the phloem tissue from areas of production, the leaves, to heterotrophic organs, where they are needed for growth and storage. Inside the phloem, transport takes place in specialized cells called sieve elements. Sieve elements are connected end-to-end by sieve plates to form a sieve tube.

[Scanning electron microscopy in ophthalmology].
Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 1971In the context the technique of the scanning electron microscopy is described and the results are shown gained by the scanning electron microscope in ophthalmology. It is pointed out that questions specific to surface can be answered quicker and easier, if superificial microscopy together with the scanning electron microscope is used an additional ...

High-resolution scanning electron microscopy
Ultramicroscopy, 1991The scanning electron microscope (SEM) builds up an image by sampling contiguous sub-volumes near the surface of the specimen. A fine electron beam selectively excites each sub-volume and then the intensity of some resulting signal is measured. The spatial resolution of images made using such a process is limited by at least three factors. Two of these

Scanning electron mirror microscopy and scanning electron microscopy of integrated circuits
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1969The recently developed scanning electron mirror microscope (SEMM) is compared with other types of electron microscopes, such as the electron mirror microscope (EMM) and the scanning electron microscope (SEM), for examining integrated circuits. Potential advantages of the SEMM include high resolution, elimination of electron bombardment damage, and high

Scanning Electron Microscopy and Bone
This chapter discusses methods for preparing samples of bone and bone cells for scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Backscattered electron (BSE) imaging is by far the most useful in the bone field, followed by secondary electrons (SE) and the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analytical modes. Samples may have detail in a 3D surface, or be topography-free,openaire +2 more sources
